More lbs gone ... enjoying the count

May 25, 2007

Since the weight loss will slow in the near future as foods are brought back into the picture and I have to start really paying attention to my meals, I am currently enjoying posting the pounds gone ... almost right down to a post per pound!

17 gone as of two days ago ... the 23rd! I hope to hit 20 by my first month anniversary.  I just hope.  I won't be disappointed either way.  I look forward to the official weigh-in on the 31st and moving on to soft foods.  I can't believe I'm looking forward to hopping on a scale at all ... how weird is that to say?!

Anyway, feeling a bit better ... can't wait to see even less of myself real soon (and maybe even try on some old clothes ... lol)!

About 15 pounds gone!

May 16, 2007

So, at about the 2 1/2 week point I couldn't wait any longer and pulled out the scale.  Not the best time of the month to weigh in (all the women will understand this one for sure), but I just had to do it.  I'm glad I did!  Another 7-8 pounds have fallen away ... and gone forever is my plan!

I will weight again next week and then I will get the 'official' weigh in at my doctor's office the following week.  They will also release me to the soft foods diet which I'm really, really looking forward to at this point.  I'm truly sick of soups!  I won't be eating any more soup for a while after I've graduated to the next level or I shall forever detest it ... lol!

So, fingers crossed!  I hope to have GRAND news to report next week!

12 days Post Op

I'm feeling pretty good.  Went back to work today ... a bit tired but I think if I hit the sack early, I'll be able to make it through a 3 day work week.

The surgery went well except for the dehydration the day after getting home from the hospital, but I sure learned my lesson!  I try to drink something constantly, of course, but it's pretty hard to get in 60 ounces.  I could do it easily before surgery, but I'm scared to put in too much liquid too fast these days so I sip and sip and sip ...

Fortunately for me, I have not been sick on anything.  I have tried a multitude of cream soups, malt o meal, smoothies.  I get a bit of indigestion here and there, but a short walk cures it pretty quickly.

I hope to be a 'certified' member of the 'losing side' real soon ... only lost about 6-8 lbs so far, so I'm a newbie.  Can't wait until I can say ... one month or two months post-op and 30-40 pounds gone!  That will be a great day!

Another update soon. - A

I will be on the other side of this surgery by the end of the month ... I'm very excited.  I can't wait to see what this Summer brings!

Finally!!!

Apr 10, 2007

Although, I do not have much to complain about, it's been a long journey to today ... the "I got my approval" day.  It seems like forever since I attended Dr. Naaman's seminar back in September of last year.  I got started almost immediately with the paperwork and the 3-month (which is really more like 6 or 7, as you can see) approval process for Aetna.  Fortunately (or not), I have been overweight for as long as I can remember and it's been documented for the past 5 years due to the birth of my beautiful daughter ... I got pre-claymptic with her, so bring on the high blood pressure meds since.  It DID make my approval process smoother to have most of the information needed.  But, it sure didn't make the time go any faster!  I had my first appt with the nutritionist and the supervising physician back in October and I just got my approval today!  But, HEY, I GOT MY APPROVAL TODAY!  I'm going for 'first available' at the hospital so I should be on the other side of surgery in as little as 2 weeks.
I am very excited and would love to hear experiences or advice. :)
