St. Joseph's Health Centre

"I have to say that I liked this hospital except for a very bad experience with a nurse in the ICU. The hospital also needs to have more information about WLS if they are going to continue this surgery at there hospital. Some of the staff didn't really know that much about the surgery and the do's and don'ts. "

Lloyd Smith

"My first impression of Dr. Smith was that he understood what I was feeling and let me answer his questions without answering me back with the attitude that he was better than me. My impressionrnonly got better over time as I seen how comfortable he made me feel. He answered any questions I had in words I could understand and was honest about everything. His office staff was very nice and polite and again answered any questions that I asked of her. He told me that follow-ups are very important a) to make sure everything is ok and that I am on track and b) so that they know the results of my surgery. Yes, well to me it is structured. Well the risks of surgery were address to me as yes I have 1 in 200 chance of dying however I have a 1 in 5 of dying over the next 5 years. Also I could drive out on the highway and get hit by another car but is that going to stop me from driving? NO So why not try and make my life healthier and more livable. Out of a 10 I would have to say I give him a 7 but I know what you are going to say. If he seems so good why do you rate him so low. Well no one is perfect and well lets wait and see after the surgery how many points he can earn. I think that surgical competence is better however if you don't have the trust in the bedside manner then you wouldn't be going for the surgery and having to worry about surgical competence."
