I'm back
May 11, 2009
Well this is me now. Walking the dog and getting back into fitness. I've gone back to the basics of eating protein first and staying away from the slider foods that I had been absent mindedly shoving in my mouth while I was studying and stressing over finals. I've got to remember Protein, Exercise, and water, water, water.
On the losers bench now

Here I am. I got home last night. Things went really smoothly. The worst part was the waiting in the morning before surgery. I was supposed to be at the hospital at 8:00am. Tom and I stayed in a motel the night before so we wouldn't have the long drive in the morning. The surgery before me was extremely complicated since it was a revision so I waited a long, long, time. I think it was somewhere around 2:00pm when I finally got taken to the OR. The wake up in the recovery room was the most painful part of the whole experience. Once they got my pain under control it was managed well. I felt so great I was just ready to go home. Dr. Nease is a brilliant surgeon. My surgery was pretty text book. He said it was about 1 1/2 hours long. My surgery buddy who I had met in our pre-surgery class was the long one. She had, had the surgery 20 years ago. Things inside her were quite a mess. Having Dr Nease do the revision probably saved her life. I had 2 Nurses. One was an angel sent from Heaven. The other was a male nurse who appeared to me to be a jerk. At one point when my IV bag had run out he came in hooked up another one and said "You just paid $150 dollars for this bag of juice and paid me $75 dollars to hang it up." He was a real jerk. I had my liquid supper at 6:00 pm. We were told in class that we would be given 6 small meals. 3 meals and 3 snacks. At around 10:00pm I asked him about getting a snack and showed him the dietitians guide lines for the hospital stay. He said that was Dr Nease's opinion. They brought me half a popsicle. He said that it wasn't possible to do that in the evening because there isn't any one in the kitchen. Well the next morning I was nosing around in the cupboards in the hallway next to the ice machine. Guess what I found? lots of packages of chicken and beef bouillon and a large container of Injury unflavored. You think that might have been for the By-Pass patients? Duhhh. I really don't like ignorant. Anyway Surgery was Monday. When I seen Dr. Nease on Tuesday I asked him if he could try to get me out of there early on Wednesday since we drive so far. His usual discharge isn't until somewhere between 3:00 and 6:00. After he finishes up all the surgery and office appointments. He told me he would come in between surgeries and try to have me discharged by Noon. And he did. The only thing I had to wait on was the Pharmacy. The Angel Nurse even called the scripts over to Rite Aid so they would be ready when we got there. We were afraid we would get to our town too late and that the pharmacy might have to order the liquid meds. It rained all the way home. That made the getting out and walking every hour to prevent blood clots a tad unpleasant. But what the heck. I was headed home and feeling great.
Praise God.
Twas the night before......

I'm soooo hungry. I have 2 days of clear liquids and tomorrow is surgery. I have alot of different feelings running through me. A little nervous, a little worried about missing the kids, and a little stressed because Tom is being so slow at getting ready. I hate waiting. I don't want to get to the motel too late. I need to have time to relax and unwind.
Almost There

Yahooooooooo I got the call. I've got a date !!!!!!
Mar 22, 2007
I can hardly catch my breath. April the 9th. The day after Easter. That Means I will be on clear liquids Easter day and the day before. Jackie was able to do some adjusting of the schedule to get my Ultra Sound and Final appt with Dr. Nease on the day before the pre surgery class so we can stay in Huntington over night instead of driving back and forth. With a tank full of gas costing $40 dollars and it takes 2 tanks round trip. We are better off to stay the night and we will be more rested without all the driving.Praise the Lord

I would say I'm pathetic !

I had a bad experience today with my refridgerator. We had to replace our old one 2 weeks ago. These things always have a way of breaking down at the worst time.We bought a fancy side by side with all the extras. Anyway my husband who is a bean pole with long arms put the jelly on the top shelf and way in the back. Well when I went to make my home from school sick kid a pbj sandwich I was actually too big to fit inside the smaller door opening to reach the jelly. Just another one of those things that I can't wait to be able to do.

Waiting, Waiting, Waiting.

I'm still waiting. Dr. Nease's office said I should have a date by the end of this week or the beginning of next. I can't wait.

It's all over but the waiting!

Yeah!! I got my nutrition class done. It was about 3 hours long. (not too bad) But thanks to OH there was very little that I didn't already know. Marsha was great. Very nice and informative. I called the Cardiologist office again yesterday. For some reason they seem to be having trouble faxing my clearance to Dr. Nease's office. They should have it now. I should be getting a date real soon. Since I have medicare, and meet all of their requirements, I don't have to wait for insurance approvial. We have a big youth retreat scheduled for the weekend of March 23rd. I'm crossing my fingers that I can get scheduled right after that. On a bad note I have gained about 20 pounds since I quite smoking 2 months ago.I started back up at the Wellness Center . I've been walking on the tread mill and stepper. I can really feel the weight gain. I know I need to start up counseling so I can end this compulsive overeating and be successful with the help of the surgery. I don't think the surgery is enough for me. I've got to change my behavior as well. Dear God I pray I'm successful at this. I have failed so many times.

March came in like a lamb

Hurry up spring. I'm so ready for the snow to go away. It's hard to believe that it has been 5 months since I found this site. I've logged in everyday since. Thanks OH for being here and doing what you do. Tomorrow I try again to go have my nutrition class. That is the last thing keeping me from getting my date. I can't wait. I'll post tomorrow after I return from Huntington.God Bless

Just catching up
