hansbl2 - bypass surgery

I am 59 years old and I am thinking about gastric bypass to help my gerd. I have had two nissan wraps and they have come undone. My gerd is so bad my surgeon suggested bypass. I do need to lose about 50 lbs. Has anyone had this surgery for gerd, and if so what are the results. Also what are the first three weeks like after surgery
