My weight loss history has been of constant control, worry, fear of when will the next weight gain and binging get ot of hand. And then, there would be te dread of having to go to the doctors and getting the diet pills and excessive exercising and loosing the weight; getting off of the pills and regaining the weight. I did this from my 20's to late 40'2, keeping the weight off and realizing as I failed time and time again keeping it off, I decided to do WLS.
My family history is one of obesity and I did not want to be overweight as most of the females in my family settle for; they stopped fighting for their appearance, life and health in the 40's. I kept on looking for answers, found out about weight loss as a healthcare professional and entertained the idea for 3-4 years as my weight ballooned to 254, couldn't walk without feeling short of breath and my joints ached and I was so spirtually saddened about my life.
I first chose Dr. Joya and spoke oftentimes with his coordinator, Gerald and he referred me to this sight. He told me, too about the sleeve and said that it was an even better approach as I was leaning toward the band but was not fully sold on the band. When I started visiting OH and saw all of the successful stories and that so many people had turned to this option with successful outcomes, I shifted gears and started looking at doctor views and what people had said about each doctor; no better way to find out if a doctor is practicing with successful outcomes; his patients will tell you.
Dr. Alvarez was a jewel; not only was he a site for sore eyes for an "old lady", but he was professional and knowledgeable and performed his job well; I couldn't have asked for more. Yes, the hospital was old and not up to part; but, I did not get an infection and this procedure, thank God was not invasive enough.
Immediately, after surgery, I had so much nausea and vomiting; coughing; everytime I gagged or coughed, I had stress incontinency, and none of that matter. I had the surgery; all I had to do now was to pray to get through the recovery period and the nurses were as nice as they could be, for the most part. People, human beings are all different, giving and some more than others. I am in the giving profession and has seen many and know people; I did not ask for more than anyone could give; so, overall, it was a good experience for me
Remaining of my story to follow.
