Sept. 13, 2008

Well, I'm finally on the other side. My surgery was Sept. 2, but I've been sick with an infection and have not been online. I had a temp of 103.5 and a pocket of infection in one of the incisions. Dr. S doesn't seem to think the two are related. He thinks I had a UTI, who knows. I am feeling better now. Just want to go back to work soon! More later.

Cigna, PPO

Vicki at Dr. McDaniel's ofc called to let me know I am approved by CIGNA!!! YIPPEEEE! It's hard for me to believe. Thank you Vicki for all you help. Dr. McDaniel's office has been very helpful.

She called BCBS TX TRS to try to hurry them up and told them  that Cigna had already approved.

Good news! I went back to the diet Dr. today and I'm down to 272!
I'm surprised since I did just get back from vacation for 2 weeks. You now how that goes. I did try though and didn't let myself go WILD...

The Dr.'s ofc. sent my stuff off on Tuesday, to both ins. co.'s, BCBS TRS AND Cigna. BCBS TRS is my primary now. When they did open enrollment, I took it b/c they are supposed to be easier than Cigna; I was afraid to let Cigna go. I'll let you know if it was worth it...

Everything is in order, but I'm worried about my 6 mo. Dr. supervised diet. I have gone for 7 mos. and will continue to go, it does help me. But, 3 of the times, I didn't go on the 30th day... Life does get in the way, doesn't it?????

At any rate, those 3 times I was at 40 -45 days. So, I just don't know if this will effect things negatively. I looked up the policy positions... they don't say monthly check ins... Pray for me please.

If they don't approve, I think I'll start going to Houston to Methodist Hospital for their program. Let's face it, they know how to get you approved! Great Docs and a great hospital!

The Beginning, almost

Jul 03, 2008

This journey actually began 2 years ago when I tried to get approved by Cigna. I jumped thru all their hoops: 6 mo Dr. supervised diet, exercise documentation, psyche eval, dietician to find out they didn't like my Dr.'s notes. OMG, what will they think up next?

They wanted lots of details beyond weigh in, high protein diet, "food diary", co-morbids., exercise recommendations, etc. PALEEEEEZE!!! This Dr. spent a lot of time with me, every visit, at least 30 min. explaining everything. Really, how much more did he need to write?

Well, when I went to him and explained the problem, he was not pleased and became very short with me. I am sorta shy and I felt like "who am I to tell the Dr. what to write?" He is a doc who does not really support WLS, I felt stuck... and lost.

SO, (and I HATE to admit this), I just dropped out. At the time, it was a lot easier to drop out than to confront the Ins. co. and the Dr.

I really regret that decision, but now am determined and won't let anyone stop me, ESPECIALLY ME!!!
