I am 35 yrs old and I have been been overweight my entire life. The earliest weight I can remember is in the 4th grade I weighed 146 pounds. I remember this vividly because of a humiliating experience; the school nurse came in to weigh the class and she said our weight out loud and I was made fun of because I weighed one pound more than the teacher who weighed 145. What I would give to weigh 146 pounds now! LOL!
Anyway, I was put on my first diet at around 8 yrs. I stayed the summer at my aunts house and she had me on a liquid diet. Well, obviously that didn't work! I have been on many diets since and have lost a siginificant amount of weight a few times, 76 pounds, 50 pounds twice, and 20 + pounds more times than I can remember. And as you have probably already guessed I gained it all back each time and then some. I currently weigh approx. 320 depending on which scale.
I have said in the past that I would never have a gasrtic bypass because I thought it was too drastic and I believed that I could lose the weight without it. Well, I have changed my mind. I have been doing a lot of research and soul searching, and I have decided that this is the right thing for me to do and I believe I will do great with it. There is a beautiful, healthy woman inside me that is screaming to get out. And I am tired of listening to her cries so I have decided to get the help I need to become the person I am meant to be. I would be lying if I said this doesn't scare me a little, but it absolutely terrifies me to think of becoming so heavy that I become disabled. I feel that the benefits far outweigh the risks at this point. So wish me luck and keep me in your prayers.
