"Dr. Spaw is an absolutely wonderful man and surgeon. My first impression of him was that he was a very calm, patient, and caring man. After my surgery, I had some trouble with unexplainable abdominal pain. At that time, Dr. Spaw became extremely concerned and took care of me in any way possible. He ordered several tests and x-rays to check for causes. He changed my pain medication to make sure I was comfortable and spent at least 20 minutes with me sometimes multiple times a day while I was in the hospital recovering. I cried one day in the hospital because there was no explanation for my pain (I was scared it was not going to go away)... Dr. Spaw closed the door to my room and told me to go ahead and cry, then hugged me tight and told me it would be ok. You just don't find surgeons or doctors like him every day! I always felt in very capable hands and after a couple of days the pain went away. I have recovered VERY well after my surgery. Dr. Spaw called me himself the day after I got home to check on me and see how I was doing. He also made sure I knew that there was always a doctor in the practice on call if I needed anything. When I had trouble with nausea that the phenergan was not helping, his assistant spoke with him and he quickly called in a new medication that was very helpful. He is very concerned with aftercare and follow up appointments to make sure you do well after surgery. I am so glad I chose Dr. Spaw and the folks at Baptist Metabolic Surgery Center. If you're trying to decide on a surgeon in the Nashville area, I would not hesitate to choose Dr. Spaw and his office! They are all wonderful, caring, and loving people. "
