New Milestones

Apr 16, 2009

Hi everyone,
Well, its been another 4 months since I have been on line.  I am down to 187 lbs for a total of 122 lb weight loss.  I just cannot believe that I would ever bee this size again.  I feel great.  Thanks to the Lord, I have not had any complications from this surgery.  Even my knees feel better.  I now walk all around the house without my cane.  I only use it when I go out, due to fear of falling on unlevel surfaces.  I also did something that I have not done in 30 years, I went bowling last week, and bowled 3 games.  Were"nt the best in the world, but at least I did it. YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!.  I also went out shopping yesterdaly, and bought me some size 12-14 pants, they even fit lol.  I have not worn that size since my first child was born.  Boy do I feel great.   Well, good luck to all you well wishers, and new candidates.  Remember it can happen to you.

back home

Dec 14, 2008

Well, I have been back home now for 1 week.  I enjoyed being with my daughter during my first 4 months after surgery. SHe helped me a lot.  I don't know if I would be this far down the line with 100 lb weight loss, if not for her help.

Since I have been back home, I have seen my friends and they are just astounded by the amount of weight I have lost.  Many of them have taken a second look, as they did not know me at first.  They are all so happy, with my success, and am glad that I have not had any complications.

I went to my doctor, and he was just thrilled about the weight loss, and also that my labs have all been normal.  He was so proud.  I am feeling just great.  My knees are still the only thing that cause me pain.  I guess sometime next year I will have to see about the knee replacements.  They hurt me more in the mornings when I get out of bed.  I have to walk very carefully until they pop then I am okay.  I use to take Nsaids, but am no longer able to do that, so I just take extra strength tylenol.

At least once a month I am buying smaller clothes.  I have gone from a 5 x down to a size 16-18 in the 5 ,months post op.  Well I will get back with you after the holidays, Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, as it sure is one for me.

2 weeks out

Jul 28, 2008

It has been 2 weeks today since my surgery.  The surgery went well, did have to stay in the hospital a few days longer, as i had a sluggish bowel from the surgery.  Went home and am staying with my daughter who has also had a rny  last year.  She has been tremendously helpful, since she has been through it all.  I had some lower abdominal pain on Thursday which was something new.  Called my surgeon, and he sent me to the er for some tests.  All were normal, and seems was probably some referred pain, but all is well now.  I have lost 11 lbs since surgery.  It is kind of hard to believe.  I don't even get hungery.  I eat because I have to. So Far the recovery period has been okay.  The next thing to do is to start going to the gym for some exercise.  Looked into my daughters gym at this time and I can start a seniors program on a monthly basis., which is great for me.  I will stay with my daughter for 4=5 months, then return to my home in Mississippi.  So far all is well.
