One pound down

 One pound down this week from 322 to 321. Honestly have not been great at sticking to my diet. Went to my first WLS supprt group and was disappointed to be the only one attending. Met the leader/nutritionist Cathy tho, and had a good chat. Surgeon (Dr.R) was supposed to have made an appearance but did not  

So we spoke about my desire to lose as much weight as possible before surgery, and she suggested I reduce my calories from 1800 to 1500. Now, that's a drastic change for me considering I'm having trouble sticking to the 1800 cals I'm doing now (still under 2000, even on a bad day) So my compromise with self is to aim for 1600. At her suggestion I am aiming for 60g protien, 45%carbs, and 30% healthy fats. Gotta wean completely off sodas. Down to 2/24oz sodas on the two nights I work. BIG CHALLENGE! I notice now even at 1800 cals I'm hungry during the day, and I mean real, physical hunger. Gotta figure out how to bulk up without adding more calories.

Also spoke to her about my fear of RnY and why I wanted to go with the LapBand. She said that there have been 2 successful patients at FCMC at my weight who have had the LapBand but that progress was slow and she was concerned about the diabetes issue. Will discuss further with Dr.Small on the 22nd when I meet with him. Realize I need to find some way to exercise that doesn't hurt/make me want to vomit and/or pass out. Lots to work on.

Frustrating Week

 It's been a frustrating week. I've been logging food consistiently and truthfully on fitnesspal. Trying to stick to 1800 calories, 80 grams protien, and 3 carb servings per meal, with 1 carb serving per 2 snacks daily. Hitting protien well. Carbs fair, calories fair. Out of last 14 days I've over eaten (calorie wise) 4 days, between 1800-2000 calories, never over 2000. Still, lots of room for improvement. Notice on nights that I work I consume more food and more calories. Know I need to eleminate sodas completley but I love them on my work nights, 2. The rest of the week, 5 days, I never touch one. Doing good with elemination of sweets, not counting the soda.
Weighed in today and had gained 5 lbs, 322 up from 318. Boo. Eating out is the culprit.
Have had a migraine headache for the last 7 days as well. Hormone related I believe due to the wrath of mother nature.

FitnessPal & Logging Food

 At my first WLS appointment I was told that four days before meeting with the surgeon I should do a food diary. SO, I thought to myself "why just four days" and "If I do that it won't be real, I'll just be "good" for four days before the meeting". I decided a week ago to start logging my food at myfitnesspal.com. Every.Single.Bite. I set a goal of 1800 calories. Still a big amount of food but much less than I've been eating over the last 10 yrs that got me up to 347 lbs. So far, so good. I've been under goal all but 2 out of the seven days and logging has helped me see patterns in the foods I eat, good and bad.

Next I need to figure out the correct proportions of protien, fats and carbs and set those. In any case I'll have a good record for the surgeon next month.

First Appointment for WLS info Yesterday

 K all, went for my initial info meeting for WLS yesterday at Fulton County Medical Center here in McConnellsburg, PA. Will have surgery done in Harrisburg but all pre and follow-up appointments can be done here. Will meet with the surgeon for the first time mid-October. If all goes well, possible surgery in Feb '13.
