Had the Baby - Now Need to Lose the Weight Again

Dec 16, 2009

Well, we had a little girl on September 28.  What a surprise!  I thought for sure it would be a boy again.  But it has been a wonderful new leg of our family's journey.  The biggest reason I had the surgery in the first place was to try to get PG again.
HOWEVER, now I have 40lbs to lose once more as I gained a lot while pregnant.  I lot of my sugar and fat sensitivity went away and I stretched my stomach quite a bit.  And those things have not reverted back since the birth.  I have decided to not panic yet and let the end of the "fourth trimester" go by since that will be right after Christmas but then I have to get back on the wagon!
I don't want to buy a new size in clothes and I certainly don't want to go back to buying plus sizes.  I'm still wearing my maternity clothes right now and some of my DH's because I'm mainly hanging out at home but  come the new year and I really want that to change.
I hate my bigger thighs and butt being back again and I feel achy when I wake up like I used to when I was heavier.
Anyway, I'll need to be back on here more often to get back, and stay back, on track!

Finally Pregnant!

Apr 15, 2009

Well, we finally got pregnant!  We had been trying for five years now (with a break for about 10 months around the RNY).
I'm about 14 weeks along now and I'm sooo nauseous, just like with my pre-op pregnancy.
All my labs have been good.  I've even managed to keep off the thyroid drugs and still maintain good blood levels!  My hemoglobin was 13 and the OB said that's very good for any PG lady, especially an RNY one.  Only problem has been that I've gained 12 lbs already!  Too many carbs but they are the only thing that makes my stomach feel better!
I just keep trying to do the fluids, protein, fruits and vegies order as much as I can muster.
Thank goodness for Dr. Medlin.  He really gave me a wonderful middle ground surgery.  I'm not skinny but I am healthy and no nutritional problems and I was able to get pregnant and I still dump from too much sugar or fat!  Everything I needed and hoped for!
It's a bummer that he doesn't care though.  I've tried to get in to thank him and give him a present when I'm in town but the receptionist says that if I want to see him I have to make an appointment and pay the $100 or so.  Just to say thank you. Seems weird.  He must just know he's good.
Anyway, hopefully things continue on nicely and we have a healthy bebe.  And, hopefully, I can lose the baby fat after!

New Year

Jan 11, 2009

So, I haven't written on here in awhile.  Still can't get new pics to post or upload.  And the design of the site has changed so much I don't know what I'm doing.
On the weight front.  Christmas was OK and I still have an extra two pounds from the holidays but that is so much better than in the old days.  I wore a size 12 dress that was sleeveless and short with a bubble style skirt (the name of the dress on the tag was "The Itty Bitty Bubble") to a New Year's party and I still can't get over it.  I'm saggy in the arms and knees but I was still so happy to wear something cute and trendy.
I never regret this surgery.  Even when I try to eat something like quesadillas in a restaurant and more than one wedge leaves me feeling like a heavy rock has landed in my pouch or when even a 1/4 of a cup of egg nog makes me want to throw up, I still love this surgery.  Thank goodness!
I hope that this continues to be the way for me and I am thankful for Dr. Medlin most every day.
I have so much to be thankful for!

Before and After Pics

Jul 28, 2008

Yay!  My before and after pics went up on here finally!  It feels so good, but also strange, to think I'm a grad.  Really weird!
I've only lost another four pounds this month and don't think much more will come off from here but I'm really happy with that anyway.
Maybe someday I'll get my breasts reinflated and this pucker I call a stomach flattened but I'm really happy regardless.  Buying a new outfit for a new job that was a size 10 says it all to me.
Life is good!

More Than One Year Out!

Jun 25, 2008

Well, I have made it past one year!  I am 169lbs.  I don't think much more will come off without a whole lot of exercising.  I'm OK with that because that would also mean more excess skin; and I already have more of that than I can handle.
I still can't update my photos on here which makes me not so interested in keeping up-to-date.  Oh, well after a year, I guess alot of people stop being so interested in that.
If anyone would like any help or support, just message me and I will keep checking up every once in a while.  Especially Canadians that might need some extra help locating services!

Average!

Apr 01, 2008

As of last week, I am average!  I'm very happy to say that.  I was 185lbs on Friday!  I'm a size 14!
I had an OK month and lost 8lbs for the month, which I am completely happy with.
I can't update my pictures lately.  I'll try again today.
Other than that, it has all been status quo.  Happy with my lost weight.  Still not happy with how I look.  I feel saggy in the bum, boobs and arms and I keep losing off the hips but would love to lose more around the waist.  Oh well, better than before, is what I keep telling myself.

Sloooow Month

Jan 22, 2008

So like clockwork, unfortunately, my weight loss has slowed down.  Today was 7 months and I'm only down 6lbs this month and 104lbs total.  It was the holidays this month and I would typically have gained my usual annual 5-10lbs during this month but I am worried about the "honeymoon" being over.
So today I have regrouped my efforts and will start journalling again and especially watch protein and water and making sure not to drink within half an hour of eating.
My goal is to lose 9lbs this month!  This is completely do-able.  Plus, we go to Florida next month and it would be out-of-this-world to be an average size of 14 (or almost).

Great Blood Work Results

Dec 14, 2007

I'm one week away from the fateful 6 month mark.  I'm very nervous about it because it is the beginning of the end of quick weightloss.  When I weighed in today, though, I was exactly on my target of 96lbs down.  I would really like to get down to 98lbs by 6 months as this will be 75% of the weight I would like to lose.
I was also very happy today because my GP said that my six month bloodwork came back, "to die for".  What a weird way to put it but he said he rarely sees bloodwork so good.  That makes me happy because I don't take all of my supplements.  I take some every day but not the total recommended by my surgeon.  Hopefully, my levels stay good so I don't have to take more pills.
What a great day all in all!

Been a Long Time

Nov 24, 2007

It has been sooo long since I wrote on here!  I had my five month anniversary yesterday and exactly hit my goal for that time of 89lbs down.  I'm really happy with that!
I am starting to not let a lack of eating bother me.  I still miss ice-cream and dessert a lot but the sadness doesn't last nearly as long.
I'm really going to try to get down to 98lbs for my six month weight in.  Most people would probably like to have lost a lot more by that time but that would be 75% of the weight I wanted to lose and that would make me ecstatic.  I would then be 207lbs and a comfortable size 16.  That would be a wonderful Christmas present!

Bloated But Still Lost A Pound

Oct 05, 2007

This might be, and probably is, TMI but I still lost a pound even though I can tell the time-of-the-month is just around the corner.  And, that's great because I used to hold at the same weight for weeks before.  Maybe with less of me, there is less water weight as well and that helps?
All I know, is that makes me happy.  71lbs down altogether at about 3-1/2 months out.  Not record-breaking but I'm pretty happy with it.  I haven't been this weight in eight years.  That amazes me.  And, while I still have many moments where I miss food a lot (like PMS time), I'm feeling much better about my body in general.  Except my sagging breasts.  No one is kidding about how that really happens.  I was fine up until about a month ago and then BAM, they deflated.  Oh well, maybe a lift when my weight stabilizes.  They used to be the only thing I actually liked on my body so something must be done about it.  Yes, my legs are much more defined and somewhat thinner but they don't make up for "the girls".  Time will tell I guess.
