I have always been overweight, for as long as I can remember...
Up and down , with the fads and pills, like a rollercoaster.
I tried everything over the years. I have three amazing children, whom unfortunatley, i gained alot of weight to bring into the world.
Well that was really only one of my kids, my middle son, I gained 93 pounds, and never really got rid of it all...My then husband kept demanding I loose the weight for his sake, because he wanted me too, but his way of encouraging was to insult , and demean me, guess what that did???
Just when I thought I was back in control of my weight to some measure....BAM!!!..
I got pregnant with my last one...and so back on that ride I climbed.
I never really went over 200...I always teetered around 190-200, i was ok with that, my doctor was, i was a healthy 200.
Until .............2005. I had to have a really invasive knee surgery, and thats where my decline began.
The knee surgery was a horrible 11 month recovery...of which 6 months was spent on my couch, non- weight bearing.
The others, well between having to retrain, and re strengthen, i was in for a long road.
Never the less, I gained about 30 pounds from it, and because of my decreased mobilty, i gained about 30 pounds per yr ...
This past year, in late Dec, 2007..I developed Psuedo-Tumor-Cerebri...big word for a fat deposit, that acts like a tumor.
Because of my rapid weightloss, I had developed this fatty deposit right at the base of my neck....but on the inside it is the base of my cerebral system.
What problems this caused...first a horrible sinusitus...then vertigo, that lasted for around 9 months...( 9 months of not being able to get of the spinning out of control ride).
It took forever to get a diagnosis, I was beginning to think I was crazy...
anyway, I found the right Dr., and he was a Neuro-Opthamologist...
Hes the one that made sense of all the garb.
Hes also the one that told me, bariatric surgery woould benefit me greatly.
SO thats where my ball began rolling.
I had a major medical need for it, so I was approved rather fast.
I was diagnosed in the end of July..went to the seminar on my birthday august 11
had my consult with Dr. White on september 16th, 2008, and my surgery was October 8th , 2008....
The day I came home from the hospital...I knew I had done a major change...
And so my life now begins............
