Three Month Update

May 08, 2008

I'm about a week late on this update, but the last couple weeks have been stressful.  Nothing to do with surgery, just life, but I've let it get in the way of eating and drinking like I should.  If I had been dealing with all this before surgery, I would have run to the kitchen for comfort, but now I'm actually having to force myself to eat enough each day.  It took a few days before I realized that I wasn't getting enough protein or calories because I was too busy to track my food like I usually do.  My weight loss actually stopped, my body must have thought it was starving and held onto everything.  I started tracking again a couple days ago and made sure I got in enough protein and started dropping again this morning.  Its definitely something that I have to always be aware of, no matter how stressful life gets.

Medically, I am completely off the Atenelol for my blood pressure but I am back on the Metformin for PCOS, but at least at a lower dose.  Obviously the cysts were not weight dependent, but thats not surprising since I started having symptoms when I was a thin teenager.  Unfortunately my cholesterol levels have not changed enough for the doctor to take me off cholesterol medication and since I have a family history of high cholesterol, I may not be able to get off that either.

I have actually have bought some clothes from the regular section of the store, size 18 pants and XL tops.  The pants are still a bit tight, but I can fasten them!  I am so ecstatic!!  I am just a few pounds from my halfway point goal in just a little over 3 months.  Reaching my final goal actually seems possible now.

Update on our gold panning hobby.  My hubby and I went out to the river last weekend to do some panning.  To get to our location requires us to walk about 1/4 mile over large rocks.  In the past it was quite a chore and meant several rest stops for me to catch my breath.  We made it all in one shot this time and coming back I actually had to stop and wait for my husband to catch up with me!!

Two Months Post-Op

Mar 31, 2008

Fifty pounds!!  I've lost fifty pounds since I started down this new path for my life. I feel like a new person, like nothing can stop me now.

I still haven't had a true episode of dumping, but I do try to avoid the sugars as much as possible.  A couple times I've felt extremely lethargic after eating some carbs, but that has been about the worst thing I've dealt with.

Medically, I've been off Metformin since a week after surgery and the doctor just cut my Atenelol dose in half because my blood pressure has been running low.  My cholesterol levels were excellent at my one-month check so I hope to be off that prescription soon.

I went shopping for some work pants last week and I am down two sizes!!  I'll be able to shop in the regular departments soon.  I can't wait.

I am just so happy with my life right now.

Six Weeks Out

Mar 13, 2008

3/13/2008:  Things have been going wonderfully.  I'm losing weight again; albeit not as fast as I would really like, but at least the scale isn't stuck anymore. Except for some chili that I made a couple weeks ago, I haven't had problems with any of the foods I have tried.  I'm down forty pounds and I feel fantastic.  I am so happy I made the decision to have this surgery.

Losing Again

Mar 05, 2008

3/5/08:  After almost three weeks of losing and gaining the same two pounds, I am back to losing weight.  I am so happy to have found this site and learn that a stall at this point is normal.  I was still discouraged each day as I got on the scale, but at least I wasn't in a full-blown panic.
