It's been a long time
Feb 02, 2013
I am now 5 yrs post op and doing wonderful. The only gripe I have is that I do get adhesions from having the gastric bypass which causes me so much pain. My surgeon needs to go in with a scope and remove them. This has happened twice so far. He said this may be a regular occurrence. I suffered another pulmonary embolism so I am on life long coumadin. I had my tummy tuck in March of 2011 which was a success. My journey has not been as easy one but I do not regret having the surgery done. I have lost 200 lbs and have kept it off.

What year!!
Jan 29, 2009
One year post op and what a year it's been. I have lost 142 lbs. My gallbladder was taken out in October. I can pretty much eat anything now. I stay away from the fast foods except for Taco Bell. I love mexican food and it doesn't bother me. I crave popcorn and peanuts. My pant size? Started at size 32, now wear 14/16. YAHOOO! Tummy tuck will be in the spring.

I FEEL GREAT
May 06, 2008
3 months post op. Just went to the surgeon today. He said that I am doing fantastic!! I am losing weight just like I should be, not too fast and not too slow. I am down to 247 lbs. What a feeling it was to fit into a size 24 pant instead of buying a size 32.
It's been awhile

It's been awhile since I have posted. Anyway, I am 2 days shy of 5 weeks post-op. Doing okay. Sometimes I get sick. I try to stick to the foods that I know won't make me sick. I did suffer a PE (Pulmonary Embolism) which is a blood clot in the lung. Happened about 2 weeks post-op. Now I am on Coumadin (anti-coagulant) for 6 months to 1 year. Other than that, doing alright.

I feel great!!! I am up to eating yogurt, cottage cheese, or applesauce. My incisions have healed quite nicely. I try to get out and walk every day. Somedays I have to go to the mall because of the weather. I stop the protein shakes on Wednesday. I will be trying tuna or scrambled eggs then.

Well...It is all over. Surgery was a success. Was in the hospital only 2 days. I must say the hardest part was all the gas pain that I had. Having laproscopic surgery requires air to be put into my belly. The first night after surgery was the worst. I was up most of the night walking trying to move most of the gas. When I did sleep I had to do it sitting straight up in bed. The second night was better. I started passing the gas and I managed to sleep all night but still sitting up---and I love to sleep on my side :(
As far as the incisions, very minimal. 6 4" scars. Stitches on the inside with glue on the outside and tape so I can take a shower. I am sore which is to be expected. I still have gas which is slowly working its way out ad it was so nice to sleep in my own bed last night.

Today is a little better being on the liquids. Im still hungry though. My time was changed for surgery. I was at 11am but I will be my doctors first case at 830. The only part I don't like is being at the hospital at 545. Im about 1 hour away so have to leave at 430am. I did think about getting a hotel for the night near the hospital but have a dog at home. One good thing about driving so early in the AM---hardly any cars on the road.

Started clear liquids prior to surgery which is required. I am so hungry and it's hard knowing that I have all this food in the house and can't eat it. I hope this is the hardest part, aside from recovery.
