Congratulations! You are having surgery one week after me...doesn't it feel awesome to be this close? I understand about the drive to the hospital...my surgeon is 6 hours away so we will be staying in a motel for nearly a week before I will be allowed to travel home. At least my husband, daughter and two of my grandchildren will be with me. I'm sorry your husband isn't being supportive. Do you think he's afraid? Many of our loved ones react that way. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I wish you a successful surgery and a speedy and uneventful recovery. God Bless...

Lorretta: Hi - We are in a similar situation. My surgery date is also August 8th, in a hospital 1 and 1/2 hours away. My wife is starting a new job that week, so I don't expect her to be able to spend much time with me. What I have been doing is to try and get in as good shape physically and mentally as possible. Exercise has become enjoyable for the first time in my life and I have seen considerable improvement in my aerobic conditioning. So - my plan is to have a successful surgery and an uneventful recovery, which is what I will wish for you. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Sincerely, Allen Vickstrom
