Hard to beleive it has been three years
Jul 24, 2008
GReetings,
As I write this I am recovering from my tummy tuck. I did nto loset o much more weight, but the surgeion removed about 5 pounds of fat. IMy mother had her tummy tuck last year, so she is helping me recover. I have never regretted having my surgery, my advice to the newbies, it is worth the struggle. You will never regret having this surgery, the best part is that the weigth you lose does not come back, so even if you do not lose huge amounts, any amount is a good amount.
When I am feeling better, I will write again.

2 Year Update
Jul 14, 2007
Greetings,
It is hard to beleive it has been two years. I am doing well. I started at 287 pounds and am now down to 197. My mother had the surgery and she is now a size 8. We kind of made this journe together. I have a dead thyroid, so losing the rest of the weight is harder. I am glad to be ina size 18/18 when I was a 3/4x. I have no regrets, but had to say that when a person has this surgery, you need to attend the support groups or have someome to talk with.
We are all in love with food for whatever reason and this surgery is NOT A MIRACLE it is meerly an effective tool which allows you to lose weight. If you do not work to change your behaviors, you will gaid weight.
It is an everyday battle with me, I am going to school full time and this last semester I was so bogged with work and stress, for a couple of days I just did not care. I ate foods that were rich and fatty and I gained a couple of pounds. My jusband finally called my mom and she took me out for a day. I "snapped" out of it and made the coice to shove veggies in my face instead of the chips that were so good. It also did not matter that I was dumping. That is the nature of my illness.
Since the semester ended, I find that I make better food choices. My mom and I were lucky to have each other, and we could share.
I will also say that chewing gum has been a lifesaver when I have eaten something that got clogged and also when I have eaten something and then drank right away. It has to be mint gum. Mint soothes the stomach and the chewing action releases the digestive juices that can help that "full" feeling in a matter of minutes.
My mom has had the plastic surgery and went to an amazing surgeon she did not even have a bruise. It was about 4 weeks to recover The only thing that really bothered her was as she was healing, she felt little pinches were the stiches were and it kind of bugged her.
I will most likely lose more, but if I don't I went from taking 12 medications to just a couple. I take thyroid medicine, and if I watch my carbs, I do not have to use insulin. That is a real weight gainer.
I will try to sign in more often, but as they say life has a way of keeping us busy.
