My 10 Week Check Up
Dec 10, 2007
Just had my 10 week check up with Dr. Afram. I'm just a hair under 45 pounds down. Yay! Feeling very good. I'm mostly over my chewing and swallowing challenges. Occasionally still get a bit nauseous after eating but that's most confined to dinner time. I'm discovering that I shouldn't be eating such dry food, especially dry chicken -- that's a guaranteed nausea inducer. It's okay to have a little bit of sauce.
There's been a lot of sturm and drang in my life lately, but I haven't turned to food, which is great.
Really feel like I'm on my way!

I'm not eating between meals anymore at all which is a very interesting change for me.
Still not doing that well with the water thing. Must do better!
I have a lot more energy and pep for Sarah which I'm so happy about.
November
Nov 01, 2007
It's November 2, five weeks since my surgery! I feel like I'm doing really well, 26 lbs down (current weight: 251.2) and I'm feeling healthy and good. My old clothes are "clown pants" now and I'm getting clothes from the back of my closet like my black pants and my houndstooth slacks. People are starting to notice my weight loss and I feel great.
My challenges right now:
1. Getting my water in. I know I'm not drinking enough. I ordered a "Hydracoach" yesterday. Kind of gimmicky but if it helps it helps. I've got to up my water.
2. I've got to take smaller bites and chew my food more slowly and eat more slowly. I'm still eating way too fast and not getting a sense of fullness and then I get nauseated. I'm working on this by remembering a tip of taking pencil eraser sized bites.
3. Exercise -- okay this is the big one. I have to start walking more.
4. Not drinking while eating. I'm doing pretty well with this but I do take a couple of sips of water while eating.
My goals right now:
1. I would like to weight between 225 and 200 by the end of the year. That gives me eight weeks to lose 25 more lbs +. Hope this is reasonable. I've been losing an average of 5 lbs a week but I don't know if this slows down.
2. I would like to be in "Onederland" as everyone calls it by my birthday (January 31). That's approximately 50 lbs in three months. I'm pretty sure I can do it.
