Doug, hang in there...focus on proteins more right now, it will jump start your weight loss again, and make you feel fuller. I am 4years out of my first surgery (I had the ring - - BAD choice), and one and one half years out of my second surgery (RNY). I have lost a total of 150lbs and am scheduled for my "panni", abdominoplasty, thigh lift, branchioplasty (arms) in 9 days...very nervous, excited to see the end of this journey, but very nervous...stay focused, stay strong and you will start losing again...trust me, been there done that!! =)

~*~I SAID A PRAYER FOR YOU TODAY~*~ I said a prayer for you today And know God must have heard- I felt the answer in my heart Although He spoke no word I didn't ask for wealth or fame, I knew you wouldn't mind, I asked Him to send treasures Of a far more lasting kind, I asked that He'd be near you At the start of each new day, To grant you health and blessings And friends to share your way. I asked for happiness for you In all things great and small, But it was for His loving care I prayed the most of all.

Doug happy 2 year annivesary. You lost an amazing amount of weight. You sound like you know full well what you need to do to get back on track and I am sure you will be right back at goal before you know it. Don't be so hard on yourself, you have identified your weakness and can work on it. Keep up the good work.

What an awesome weight loss!!!!!!!. Congratulations. You look great!!!!! As to eating less when you don't drink Mt. Dew. Did you know it has more caffeine in it than any other kind and caffeine is a known appetite stimulant. Just a thought. I think you have done really great. Your tool will still work if you work it. Keep up the good work.

Well, Wednesday was my 2 year anniversary. The first year was great. You've seen the pics. The second year was really disappointing - I'm up 20 lbs from my low. I can eat pretty much normal portions of pretty much anything - so it seems all the benefit of WLS is over. I admit - I've never been much for exercise... but it's hard to KEEP the weight off at this point, much less continue losing.
I probably contributed to the problem by going back to my Mountain Dew habit after starting a new job last October. I try to "flatten" it by shaking it up and bleeding off gas, but I know I'm not supposed to drink carbonated beverages, and I'm thinking I've stretched the pouch since I can easily eat a 6 0z steak and still have room for mashed potatos!
I'm going to have to try to get off the Dew since I notice if I skip a few days I can eat less - like the pouch is trying to "unstretch". I'm also going to start doing some exercise, despite my religious objection to discipline of any kind!!
Just a word of warning to the newbies. WLS is a VERY helpful tool... but it's not the cure-all. It's still gonna take work, committment, and a change in your head about food!!

Hi everyone!
It's been several months since I posted. I had just gotten my new job as of my last post. Been there past 3 months now, and I'm realizing I haven't posted in that long!
Actually, I'm a tad discouraged lately. I'd been on a plateau for a while, and over the holidays actually put on a few pounds. :-( I'm finding myself hungrier lately, and able to eat more (in fact WANTING to eat more) than I did just a few months ago. I still have a good 60-70 lbs yet want to lose, and it's getting harder. I'm still not much in the way of an exerciser, and I know that is going to be the key. The good news is that yesterday I took my year old golden retriever on a 3 mile hike with a bunch of other golden-lovers. It was great for the dogs - they all got worn out - but it was good for me too. I was TIRED when I got home, but I felt good to know I got some good exercise. It'll be easier once the weather is consistently nice (yesterday was GORGEOUS for a February 2nd!).
Funny story...
After I interviewed and before I got the job offer for my new job, I was at Crossroads Hospital for the sclerosing procedure on my seroma. While waiting outside outpatient surery, I ran into one of the guys who interviewed me. His wife was there having a "procedure". Well now he's my boss, and it turns out his wife was having bypass surgery done my the same surgeon who I had, and who did my seroma procedure right after he did her bypass! Small world, eh? My co-worker got married Saturday evening, and both my boss and his wife were at my table at the reception so I got to talk with her about the WLS.
Keep me in your prayers as I try to knock down this next 60-70 lbs. It's not as easy as it was the first year!
