I've been over weight all of my life. Pudgy child. Bullied on my weight in Jr. High. Then discovered how bulima could
take off the weight in HS. Did that for a few years, and decided I wanted children. Stopped it through both pregnancies.
Gained tons of weight through them. My last episoide has been over 3 years ago....just to dangerous. I've Yo-yo-ed for the remaining years to current. Currently I weigh almost as much as I did when I was pregnant.
Lets see now over the past 3 years I have developed high BP, high Cholesteral, pre-diabeties, low thyroid, and depression. All of which I take meds for. I am a pretty happy girl on the outside, but as we know how our demonds nag us on the inside.
I've been to 2 seminars over the past 2 years. Finally I've made my mind up and I am going through with the RYN. I will be having this surgery at Genesis Medical Hospital in Davenport Ia. So far I have completed all my screenings, classes and psy evaluation. I have my meeting with the Surgeon Jan 13 and hope to have my insurance approval before I see him. I have a tentative date of Jan 26 set for the RYN.
Dec 16....I got the call and I am APPROVED for surgery :-)
April 2010
I did have my surgery on Jan 26 2009. I've breezed through the weight loss pretty much with a few issues. I do have some dumping and I've learned to stay away from certain foods. The hardest thing for me to deal with is sometimes I eat certain foods/combinations and have no issues. Other days I can eat the very same thing and have issues. BUT it's all been worth it. I've lost 83lbs and am in my BMI range. I did have one problem that was aggrevated by the Gastric Bypass.....I ended up having my Gallbladder out 14 months after the surgery. I didn't have any symptoms until I landed in the ER twice in a week and a half....the Gallbladder had stones and was taken out the following Monday.
I'm soooo very happy that I had the Gastric RYN surgery.......as hard as it was to loose the weight before surgery it just fell off of me. Now.....maintance.
Best of luck to all of you!
