I am 35 years old and have been overweight since the birth of my first child (18 yrs old).  I have tried weight watchers several times and Jenny Craig also.  I have been able to lose up to 70 lbs but the weight has always creeped back and them some. I was introduced to the thought of bariatric surgery by a military doctor in 2005. I have researched it for two years before realizing that it would be safe enough to try. Now that my husband has retired and I wouldn't have to have the surgery at a military base I contacted Dr. Jawad's office (recommended by Tricare because of the Center of Excellence) on August the 11th. My first consultation was scheduled for the following week on the 17th. In the mean time I had all my tests done that was required by Dr Jawad (I work for a Dr. so it was easy to get the orders for everything) and presented it to Kevin on that day. Odalys sent my referral to Tricare on Friday and was approved on Tuesday. I couldn't believe how fast this went. I called her Tuesday and she set my surgery date for the 26th of September. I received my papers from Dr J's office yesterday so I will start my protein diet today and will prepare for the liquid protein diet two weeks prior to surgery. I am having this surgery for many reasons. Number one being my health. I have high blood pressure and heart disease and diabetes runs in my family. I want to feel better about myself and want to be able to enjoy my children and start preparing for my grandchildren. Well this is my story and I'm sticking to it!!
