I am a single mom who thought I would never "resort " to surgical means to lose weight. I was just scared of making a permanent change. Seeing a picture of myself that was taken in Dec 2006 changed everything. I didn't feel like the person that was in that picture. I needed to make a change. I started researching, found a surgeon, went to all the required appts. The day I was finished and ready to submit my paperwork for prior authorization was June 1, 2007. That night I ended up in the hospital with emergency surgery that led to a diagnosis of ovarian cancer. I had more surgery, chemo, and I have been cancer free for 3 1/2 yrs. After I had my last chemo treatment I ended up in the hospital and was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, Feb 2008. In April of 2009, I fell and broke bones in my elbow, this took 3 months to heal. In April of 2010 I started the process over. I was almost complete when in October of 2010 I lost my job. Currently I am on Cobra to complete this process and I will see it through. It has been a long road to get back to this point, but I am so happy it is finally here. My surgery is scheduled for 2/1/2011. I can't wait the next two weeks seem like another 4 years.
