Well it's been a long while.
Feb 01, 2007
I havent updated in ages. I havent been on the site in ages.
A few months ago, I had shot up to 165 pounds. Luckily I got back on track again, and I am back down to my lowest weight - 148. I still really want to get to 130, and I know I can do it.
I'm really anxious to get a tummy tuck with lipo and my breasts lifted. They sag soooooooo badly.
I havent been working out like at all lately. I need to get that back on track.
School is tough this semester. I'm almost done though! Almost a senior! I can't wait for graduate school.

Updating the past...
Feb 01, 2007
July 20, 2005 - I met the surgeon today, Dr. Kevin Krause. He's was very pleasant and such a positive and upbeat guy. My surgery is scheduled for July 28! It's so soon! I weighed in at 243 today, and I want to lose 5 pounds before the surgery.
July 25, 2005 - I went back to Dr. Rafai's office today and got weighed in at 236 pounds. So I lost 7 pounds in 5 days. He was very happy with that. Surgery is in 3 days. My mom is more nervous than I am.
July 27, 2005 - The nerves are kicking in! Just about 21 hours before surgery. I go in the hospital at 7:45am and the surgery is scheduled for 10:45am. It's going to go great, I can feel it! :) I'm so ready for this now. Thanks for all the support from everyone on here. I should be out on Saturday morning and will try and update within the next week!
July 30, 2005 (2 days postop) - I got home from the hospital about 11 this morning. My surgery went fantastic. Being the person I am, I weighed myself when I got home and I'd gained 7 pounds since being in the hospital - I guess it's all water weight? I have so much gas that need to get rid of, but it's so hard.
It's hard to eat/drink everything I need to, but I'm trying. I have no problems going up and down the stairs or walking. I walked a mile around the halls of the hospital this morning at 5am. 11 laps around = 1 mile. The pain was the WORST on the day after the surgery, and I felt so much better this morning -but there's still significant pain.
I'm ready for this exceess weight to go away. :(
August 2, 2005 (5 days postop) - Yesterday was a good day. I had some visitors, I got out of bed on my own, could stand up on my own, etc. The pain was also lesser. Today I woke up and the pain was worse. I dont know why. I still can't sleep on anything but my back, so my back is starting to hurt as well.
I have no feelings of hunger or anything. It's so hard to get all the protein in because I'm full before I even start to eat anything. I almost puked last night when trying to take my Coromega supplement. Let me tell you this: DRY HEAVING HURTS A LOT MORE AFTER YOU'VE JUST HAD SURGERY. Yeah. Haha. Anyways, I've been walking about 6 times a day, for like 10 minutes each time. Around the house, outside....sometimes it's too hot outside.
I go see Dr. Rafai on the 11th and Dr. Krause on the 15th. Can't wait to see how my weight is doing.
August 6, 2005 (9 days postop) - I went to my primary care doctor yesterday and got weighed in at 226.6. So that's 10 pounds down from the morning of surgery in 8 days. I guess I expected a little quicker weight loss because it seems like so many people lost like 15+ pounds in their first week. Oh well, 10 pounds is still great, and 17 total. Working my way down...
August 11, 2005 (2 weeks postop) - I went to see Dr. Rifai today. I lost 14 pounds in the first 2 weeks. I weighed in at 222.3 pounds and my surgery weight was 236.4, but overall I've lost 21 pounds. Good eh? He prescribed me some sleeping pills - Ambien since I havent been sleeping lately. I have to stay on full liquids for another 2 weeks. :(
August 17, 2005 (almost 3 weeks!) - So, the past 2 days I havent been able to keep anything down, not even water - Ive just been throwing it all up, so today I had to go to Beaumont Royal Oak hospital and they had to scope me. It was the worst pain I've ever experienced in my life. They had like a 1 inch wide tube go down my throat (while I was awake - all I had was a mild sedative)...that had a balloon on the end of it and a camera. It hurt so bad. So unbelievably bad. He told me where my stomach connects to the intestine, it was only dilated 2mm (it healed up too close), and it's supposed to be 12-15mm which is why nothing is staying down. However, he only got it dilated to 3mm with the balloon because my heart rate went over 100 and I was hyperventilating and crying and dry heaving. Absolutely horrible.
Anyways, since it didnt work, I have to go back to the hospital tomorrow and they're going to put me out completely and do the whole scope thing again. Good god this sucks.
Seriously, the pain that procedure caused me was freaking unbelievable. Worse than the pain after my actual surgery. I felt like I was going to die choking on that damn scope all the way down my stomach and I could see the insides of me on the screen in front of me. Jesus. But, they got 2 bags of IV sodium chloride in me, so at least I'll be hydrated til tomorrow.
August 21, 2005 (3wks3dys) - I'm about 214-215 now. I went to the hospital on Thursday and got my stricture fixed to 12mm. Things are good now. I cannot wait til I go back to the doctor on Thursday and hopefully move up to SOFT/PUREE foods. I'm so tired of these liquids!!!
September 6, 2005 (almost 6wks) - Been having really horrible back pain the past week and having urination problems. Been drinking my 64oz of water but only going to the bathroom 2-3 times a day and in decreased amounts. So I went to Dr. Bonema today and had a urine test, bloodwork and xrays done. I had a bladder infection and tomorrow I go back for a CT scan on my pelvic and abdominal region to see what else is causing all my pain. Haven't really lost any weight in about 10 days and I'm pissed off about that. I wanted to break 200 before my 8 week. :(
September 19, 2005 (almost 8wks) - Havent really been losing any weight, so I made myself a chart. The straight line is if I were to lose at a steady rate over a year to get to my goal weight at 125. And the individual things are my weight losses to date. I can't start complaining until I go above the straight line!
October 19, 2005 (almost 3 months) - Havent updated in a while. Just got back from North Carolina. I'm down to about 185 pounds now. About 60 pounds gone, 60 to go. This is fantastic news eh? Not feeling real strong lately, and have been getting really dizzy and things go black when I stand up. It's so weird.
November 2, 2005 (3 months out) - Had my 3 month checkup today. I weighed in at 183.6...been at this 183 range for about 2 weeks now. Ugh. I'm ready to move on. My blood pressure is really low, which explains why I keep getting dizzy....gotta up by sodium a little bit.
November 25, 2005 (almost 4 months) - Almost 4 months out. I'm hovering around 175 on the home scale, and would love to hit 170 before I go see Rifai on Monday because that would mean I'm no longer obese, and just overweight! I started working out again. 6 days a week. Pool 3 times a week for an hour, and the gym 6 days, running for 30 minutes and weights for 30 minutes. I can run for check this: 27 minutes straight at 5.8 setting on the treadmill. It's seriously amazing. I also started doing some ab routines, but they sorta hurt my stomach a little (bad pain, not good pain)...so I'm gonna take that slow.
Work's been a bitch. Nonstop, 45-50 hour weeks. No days off. Eh, there are a few guys I like, but I don't know how to tell if they're interested...I guess I'll just ride the wave and see where it takes me. :)
January 8, 2006 (5 months ish) - Just getting back to school for the semester. It seems so weird. Ive been off for so long. I'm no longer obese....just overweight. At about 167 pounds....30 more at least I want to lose. I can do it. I know I can. It's getting so much harder now though. I've started training to run a marathon in May. It's gonna be a lot of work, but I'm ready....so much to think about in my life...
January 25, 2006 (nearly 6 months) - I went to see Dr. Rifai, Nanette and Dr. Krause today. I got clearance to up my carbs considerably (since the marathon training requires that I need a LOT more energy). I'm so excited. I weighed in at 160. So that's awesome. I want 30-35 more. I know I can do it. I might cut back on the weight training for a while, so that I can just burn fat as I run. But we'll see. All the doctors were happy with my progress. By 9 months I want to be in the 130s. Sounds not too hard, I hope. In other news, vitamin water is DELICIOUS!
March 22, 2006 (nearly 8 months) - Havent seen many changes at all lately. Down to about 153...so only 7 pounds in 2 months. So much for being in the 130s by month 9. The running is going well. Did my first 14 miler last Sunday, and that was so hard, but it felt good. I think I pulled my hamstring though. Been hungry a lot more lately, which I guess is normal with all the running I'm doing. Still really hard to get all my water in each day though. I'm running a half-marathon on April 1, so that should be fantastic! I ran a 10k a few weeks ago and got 3rd in my age group and a wonderful bronze medal! Woohooo!
