My story is probably somewhat typical. I have had a weight issue all my life. I had to eat almost nothing in order to lose any weight.  A short period of bulimia and amphetamines in sued in my late teen and early 20's. I have found getting help with this issue was nearly impossible from health care workers over the years. Their opinions on how to lose weigh was continually changing. First, 'back in the' day, it was all about just calories, then about fat grams, carbs, combinations of food etc.... I tried all of them. My last attempts before  deciding on surgery  was a balanced diet and exercising with weights. I lost a whole 10 lbs in 3 1/2 months! I could literally put that back on in a couple of days! Spoke with my doctor and she felt it was some kind of metabolism problem but their wasn't really any research being done here in the U.S. on the subject. currently, at 6 months out, I have about 40lbs to go to reach my goal weight.!!! Happy with results so far but it has not been with out its own set of issues. I currently have reactive hypoglycemia which has already put me in the emergency room. I dont regret  having gastric bypass surgery,  I regret having my weight rule my whole life. It caused low self esteem and for me not to live life to the fullest. I'm hoping at age 46 I will learn what it is like to live without the shame of weight looming over me.......
