I am just starting this process.
Currently, my health is not great. I have COPD, asthma, along with degenerative arthritis, I have already had my left hip replaced (about 12 years ago). Now the right one and my right knee is going. I also have lumbar stenosis and spurs on my spine from L1 to L5. I can not go out without using a rolling walker with a seat and if I do not have to walk more than about 50 feet, I can use a cane. My weight at this time is 310.7 pounds...I am 5 feet tall, and I am 58. BMI is 58.5
I have already talked with my family doctor, done a lot of research on line
and went to a discussion about having Sleeve Gastrectomy surgery. I have already made an appointment with the surgeon. This is as far as I have gotton so far. I want to go through with this surgery, so I am following the steps that have to be done. I want to be at a weight that makes me comfortable again. My ultimate weight goal is 130. I felt great at that weight.
My oldest son had gastric bypass (he is 41) he was 450 pounds and is now at 280 in 6/7 months. A friend had Lap Band and she has lost 78 pounds since June this year. I feel the "sleeve gastrectomy" is what I want. I will discuss this with the surgeon when I go on October 20th.
My family and friends are a great support group but any support here is greatly appreciated, always!
