"I first went to a Weight Loss Seminar in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in April 2009. I met Dr. Hodges and some of his staff. I thought that they were able to answer my questions and seemed interested in helping me. I was able to set up my first appointment in May and felt very comfortable with him and his staff.
It gave me incentive to have the surgery after talking to one of his nurses who had the surgery about 5 months prior to my first appointment. Kim was quite a selling point!!!
The surgery was delayed because of the patient before me that required much more attention than was originally planned. He did seem competent, although I didn't see him much while recovering in the hospital. He "popped" his head in my room in a couple times because of complications I was having. When I was to be discharged he must have been busy because he wasn't answering his page. The nurse I had for 2 days was not very emphathetic, however ALL THE OTHER STAFF were excellent! I think he was somewhat lacking on the bedside manner, but that was okay as long as the hospital staff were taking care of me!
I did find the Satori Hospital very small and personal and it was a Catholic Hospital, I believe. I liked that it was small and I didn't feel like a number, instead of a person! I could have gone to a hospital much closer to home, but it was the University Hospital and I didn't want to be lost in the shuffle. I chose to go to Cedar Falls, Iowa, even though I had to travel over 75 miles one way just to be seen by Dr. Hodges! "
