5 week post op
Oct 02, 2007
Well I'm 5 weeks out and have had no complications. I feel good and I'm walking 2+ miles a day and some weights. I have lost 17 lbs. I can't lie, I'm a little dissapointed because I thought it would be more, but then again it's more than I've lost in month in the past 2 years.
My energy level is good, I'm on soft foods and I've bought 2 cookbooks that have helped me alot.
1. Recipes for life after weight loss surgery.
2.Eating well after weight loss surgery.
I have tried recipes from there and my family has liked it even thou none of them have ate healthy before. I'm really surprised on how well ground turkey tastes and can't tell the difference from ground beef.
Ok things I'm having problems with. Getting in my protein and getting in my liquids. My dr. says my goals are: 90 grams of protein a day and 64 ounces of water or clear liquid a day. Yeah I'm no where near that. I was told I have to start wearing a timer watch that goes off every 3 hours to make sure I eat. I don't have the hunger feeling and I certainly don't have hunger pains. So my body is starving is what I'm being told because I'm not eating enough nor drinking enough. I have found that the Crystal Light Slushies as 7-11 help, but still not getting anywhere near the 64 oz.
My next appointment is after Thanksgiving and I'm worried about how the Christmas season is going to affect me because I bake tons of cookies and breads for gifts and this year its going to be hard to do all that and not have any. I remember the dumping feeling all too well. Yeah that happened at 3 weeks out when the dr. said to try some baby food. So I bought fruit baby food and wow did it make me dump. Needless to say I took it all back, the unopened ones. hahaha.
