Stage IV

Mar 20, 2009

I met with my nutritionist Jaquie this past week and got the green light to move to Stage IV of the meal plan. Yay!
This means I progress from all liquids to soft mushies for 2 weeks, but the mushies include chili, soups, eggs, chicken.
I haven't tried chicken yet, I think I'm saving that for Stage V.
I also went back to work this week and was raring to go, but got quite tired by the end of the second day.
But I still went to the gym two of three of the days. I am walking the treadmill at a slower pace, and I tried the olyptical and only made it to 8 minutes...then my doc said hold off on that for a few more weeks. Let the abdominal muscles heal first.
My checkup says I'm looking good...food is working in small amounts.
Breakfast is still my protein shake; I drink it on my hour long commute to work in the morning.
mid morning I have 1/4 to 1/2 banana; slowly and mushed.
lunch is 1/2 c cottage cheese with 1 hard boiled egg; mushed together w/ 1 tbsp ketchup
I have no desire or need for a mid afternoon snack...I am not hungry until dinner!!!
Dinner has been 1/2 C chili, or last night I had 3 oz. baked fish and 2 tbsp sweet potato mashed.
I have not needed an evening snack either as I am not hungry, the fluids in between (water and crystal light) keep me full in between! Yay again!!

Beginning week 2

Mar 12, 2009

So I've done well so far. I've had a couple days of light headed-ness, but I think adding more fluids is helping. I was probably getting dehydrated. I'm also starting to actually feel hungry and crave food. But I can manage the hunger with my protein, liquids and soft snack. I've lost 12 pounds since surgery and won't I be thrilled if I lose another 12 in the next week!
haha, probably not though I am so thrilled the weight is coming off quickly. I think I'm nearly ready to go back to work and get adjusted to my new life.

Day 1 Post Surgery

Mar 05, 2009

I'm very happy to say my surgery went smoothly yesterday and I am now home and recovering well. I can tell it'll take me a little while to understand how to work with the band...how much to drink and how long to wait in between.
But I am so excited to have this opportunity to reclaim my life! I can't wait to be able to shop in a regular clothes store rather than a big lady's store...I'd gotten so I had to order nylons online from Catherines because I couldn't find any in local stores that would fit. Well many of you share similar stories ...
the last time I flew I needed the belt extension...how embarrassing ...and etc, etc, etc...
I'll be happy to put those days behind me!
The future is bright again!
