where things stand

Oct 28, 2008

Well here i am, working on my 6 months of "diet" consult to try to get my insurance to pay for surgery.  I was recently part of a merger in my company and now the new company is telling me that they removed bariatric surgery from their policy.  so now i dont know what is going to happen as they are not going to honor the fact that i was working on it before my insurance switched companies.  My mom keeps telling me that i should keep going on with this process and that it will be worth it in the end.  I just dont know though about all this time that i spend leaving work to go to the doctors offices and everything else if they are just going to deny my surgery anyway.  I will keep going on though as i am not one to give up without a fight.  Just makes me wish i would have done this sooner as my old insurance covered it without a fight at all.  This is just the one problem of still having a picture of yourself when you were 16 in your head!  I kept thinking that i wouldn't qualify.  When i went for my first consult andd i asked "so do you see any problems with insurance?" (this was still my old insurance at this time.)  Dr Glass looked at me and said "nope... you are right in the paramaters".  this was the first time that i ever went to the Dr and hoped that they would say "nope... you're right on the border and i dont think they will cover it!"  LOL... oh well... so now  i will keep this updated with information as i go along but if anyone has any advice for getting the insurance company to give in, please share!  LOL
