One Month Today
Nov 01, 2008
As of today, it's been one month since my Lap Band surgery. According to my scale, my heaviest point was at 287. I'm now at 255.5! Still primarily doing a soft food diet. Trying to get to a support group soon. Wasn't able to attend the two week post op nutrition classes due to poorly advertised location change. Trying to find alternate resources and support for post-op diet and nutrition info. I spend a lot of time on the internet reading about WLS, bought a couple really good books - Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies and Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery, and subscribed to WLS Lifestyles magazine. Feeling a little lost and unsure about how I'm progressing and wonder if I'm doing all the right things. I must not be too far off track though after losing 31 1/2 pounds so far!
Surgery is Scheduled!
Sep 29, 2008
Hours after joining OH and posting my profile, I was called this morning to have my surgery scheduled! At long last my surgery is scheduled for 10/2/08, just 3 days from today. Suddenly, I feel like a crazed maniac. So much to do - grocery shopping for pre-op and post-op supplies, starting the 2 day liquid diet, cleaning out cupboards, arranging time off from work, etc. Plus, there are the pre-op appointments scheduled for tomorrow. I've read where people experience a sort of last minute anxiety attack or "buyer's remorse," but at this point, I don't think I'll have time for any of that. That's just fine with me. This is such an incredible feeling, somewhat hard to describe. I suppose it could be compared to undergoing a kind of rebirth. Even with that though I'm managing to stay grounded. I want to think that I have no illusions about the multitude of problems that can possibly arise from a surgery like this. I'm confident that even if I should encounter serious problems I'm going to the best possible surgeon with the best staff available.
