I have struggled with my weight my entire life.  Through junior high and high school I was usually the biggest cheerleader or dancer in the group, but I stayed very active in those activities and managed to keep my arms trim and did not have fat rolls (fluctuated between a size 12-16).  I went to college at a size 16 and began yo-yo dieting, going between a 16-22, sometimes I could get as low as a 14.

This past March (2009), my husband and I took a trip to Florida and I saw a picture he took of me in my swimsuit.  It didn't even look like me.  Upon our return I decided that I needed to try something new for losing weight and began researching hypnosis for weight loss.  I kept running across sites for bariatric surgery, but refused to look because "it wasn't for me."

After my husband let me know his feelings about trying to get pregnant at my current weight, he was against it and I wasn't having regular cycles, I decided to look more into all of my options and discovered my bmi qualified me for bariatric surgery (40 bmi).  From there I began researching online like crazy.  I started looking at the lapband, but after learning more about VSG, I switched gears.

I was sleeved on August 4, 2009, and now feel it was one of the best decisions I've ever made.  I am 3.5 months out of surgery and have lost 71 lbs. since beginning a pre-op (Atkin's style) diet on July 6.  I ended up going the self-pay route to get the sleeve and purchased complication's insurance through Bliss "just in case."  I really liked my surgeon and his staff.  They have been very supportive and there have been many follow-ups (2 weeks post-op, 1 month post-op, 2 months post-op, 4 months post-op).
