I’ve been married for almost 11 years now and have a 15 year old son who is the best. Unlike most of the stories I've read on OH, I have not always been overweight; I was a very skinny child, teenager and young adult before I had my son; I was at my ideal weight for my height. When my son was born I weighed 173 and managed to lose the additional 33 lbs by dieting and exercising, but was unable to keep it off and thus the beginning of my yo-yo dieting life.
Ever since 1996, I would gain weight, diet and exercise lose weight, then would stop watching what I ate and stopped exercising and the weight would come back faster and faster every time I did this routine now I weigh 248lbs. I have tried all sorts of diets, weight loss pilss, B12 shots, joined gyms and most recently joined curves. My family has a history of being overweight and I’ve seen my mother, sister and two aunts have gastric bypass surgery. 2 out of the 4 have been successful at maintaining their weight loss, however two of them did very well the first couple of years, but have started gaining some of the weight back and that scares me. One of the reasons I'm considering Lapband is because of the gradual weight loss and the ability to have a "fill" if you begin eating too much or gaining weight. I know that if I have this tool I can finally reach my goal and remain at my ideal weight with improved health for life.
