My Journey
Hello Everyone who's eyes grace this screen. I had gastric bypass surgery on March 8, 2003 at Emory in Atlanta with Dr. Edward Lin. I get a very detailed blog cataloging my journey of trying to get approved by my insurance (I was denied 4 times) to my post-op adjustments.
Unfortunately my original blog was deleted and I did not have it backed up. So I can truly speak to you from where I currently am and how my life is forever affected by WLS.
I don't mean in a bad way. I am now a mother of a wonderful 20 month old girl, I feel as healthy as ever, my professional life improved, etc....
I did write a book about WLS entitled "The A B C's of Gastric Bypass Surgery" You can read excerpts at my website www.dionnejackson.com I am currently organizing a support group for pre-op and post-op patients, and especially dealing with the mental affects for post-op patients. What I have found is that the body heals itself if we follow the doctors orders, but the mental changes are something that are hard to prepare for. I love this website and all the input and feedback and the stories everyone shares. It has helped me along the way, and I just want to do the same.
