IU Hospital--Indiana

"I was very disappointed in my care while in the hospital. Some of the nurses were great but there were times when I didnt' see a nurse for several hours after change of shift. Also, there was very little continuity of care. Sometimes I'd switch nurses evey four hours, depending on shift overlap. It took them 2 hours and me turning my call light on 3 times before anyone came to attend to my IV pump that was beeping. I am an IV nurse and knew that it was okay and just needed to be reset, but they didnt know that. It could have caused my central line IV to clot off, had it been another problem. I had the roommate from hell and asked to be moved. The nurse told me she asked the charge nurse but that was the last I heard from her. The charge nurse never came to talk to me and I wasn't moved. I spent 5 days in a room with a woman moaning and crying out all day, all night. To say the least, I didn't get much rest. At times I felt like they were avoiding my room. All in all, I'd give my hospital stay a poor rating. The day surgery area where I was prepped for surgery was very good. The nursed were friendly and attentive and everything went smoothly there."
