I am having so many mixed emotions.  I know that it is normal but..........anyway, I am nervous yet excited.  I am not scared because I have the support of people that I love the most in this world.  I have complete trust in Dr Ben-Mier, I know I am in good hands.  Not only do I have a Higher Power watching over me but I also feel my mom and my father in law, who have passed on, giving me all the strength that I need.

I have tried to remember everything that I will need when I come home, I even made a list, but then when I got home from shopping, I would remember something else.  One good thing is, is that we live real close to Wal-Mart and the drug stores so if I should need something my husband can run out and get it.

April 19th.  I have pre-op on April 5th.  

I told my husband that I would give up my Pepsi when I got a date, well I guess I have just given up Pepsi.  It will be worth it, and before I know it April 19th will be here.

Well less than 48 hours ago I spoke with LaTonya and she was sending my info. to Anthem.  I spoke with Anthem this morning and they had received the info. and that it was under review.  I then left to go to my appointment for an Upper GI.  Boy that was fun...... I have never had a UGI but from what I was told it was no big deal.  They were right it was no big deal.  The Barium (sp) was awful because it was so thick.  I had to turn every which direction while laying under the machine.  Have you ever rolled over and over in a hospital gown?  It bunches and twists all around you!  Anyway, my only complaint from that whole experience is the awful gas pains that I now have.  I have done everything to try and relieve them but nothing is working.  I guess it is getting me in practice for when I have surgery.  I have been walking and that helps.

Now that I am home I have read that Amber was given verbal approval from the same insurance so I thought I would call and find out about me.  Well guess what???  I am verbally approved, just waiting on the Nurse to say how long of a hospital stay would be approved.  Per Gwen at Anthem my letter should be sent out Thursday.  yippee!!!

Just got off the phone with LaTonya at St. V's.  She has gotten all of my paperwork together and it was sent off to the insurance company.  So now I sit and wait. 

Just got off the phone with the radiology department at RMH and I have scheduled my UGI on March 7th.  I have never had a UGI but from what I am told it is no big deal.  This should be my last hurdle before my info. will be submitted to Anthem.

I went for my consult today with Dr Ben-Meir.  He is absolutely wonderful.  I felt very comfortable talking with him.  He took all the time I needed and answered everyone of my questions.  He is requiring me to have an upper GI before we continue on so I will be calling tomorrow to my local hospital to set that up.  Other than that they are waiting on my psych eval to be faxed over and the nut to write her report and then they will go for insurance approval.

Wow.....things are moving right along.  I went to the seminar at St. Vincents on Monday February 5th and they said that in about two weeks someone would be calling for a phone assessment, and then set up a consult.  Well it was less than two days and I had the phone assessment out of the way and a consult set up with Dr Ben-Meir on February 22nd.  My insurance requires a psych eval and a diet history.  I knew this so I already had the psych eval on January 17th and my PCP is working on a letter of my diet history with her and I have my letter together for my personal diet history.   I am definately on my way!
