Hi I'm Deb I'm 54 yrs old and at a very young age I've been heavy.  So through high school being 160 was large. I started to gain weight after having my  two children.  I seem to control at 240 lbs but when we adopted two boys I stoped working. Then the pounds got on and somewhere inbetween I lost myself.  My time was spent on my family. So now it's time for me! I've tried everything I could think of to loose weight.  I never lost more then 50 lbs.  So I looked into the surgery part of things.  I was going to do the lap bad but after going to a meeting at Brigham's & Women's I though the RNY was the way to go. It took for ever just to get an appoiment with Dr. Latuz but after that I had all my appoiments done in Dec.  My classes I had to take took 6 months.  They do help out alot.  So my process went from Aug until April 10th.   I wasn't nervous just more like let's get it done and go on to a new phase of my life.   Surgery went awesome. Actually I had no pain from the operation itself.  Just real bad soar throat and my back was killing me.  I was so glad to get up that night and be able to walk.  The next day I had exrays to make sure there was no leaks.  So they let me sip water.  Never figured water would fill me up fast.   I got a pain on top of my stomach so they filled me up with meds and I slept most of that day.  Thursday was better. I started my shake.  Friday which was the 13th I got to come home.   My stay at Brigham's and Women's Hospital  was awesome. Everyone from check in to nurses and Doctors were fablous.  Every one made me as comfortable as possiable. My family waited in a great lounge with food and drinks and tv and even a computer.  So now I'm a week out of surgery.  I feel great.  Now I just need to do some walking  and then get an excerising program when my doctor say's its ok. So May 3rd I see my Doctor and I will  do another posting then.

Alright May 3rd has come and gone.  I had my check up.  I'm 30 lbs down and doing great.  I'm still a little tired and trying to get some walking in.  They told me not to push myself  just do a little at a time.   I did get into a smaller size jeans the other day.  Which I am very happy about and they are loose.

Just had my 6 weeks check up  on June 7th.  I lost 20 lbs in the six weeks which I have a loss of 50 lbs.  I am doing great and feeling wonderful.  I'm just getting my energy back.  I'm even mowing the law now.  Not on the riding law mower.   So that's a big thing for me.   I do my walking  but haven't started any excerising program as of yet.  Other wise things are great.  I try to get all my protien in but some days I have a little bit of a problem with that.   My next  check up is on Sept 13th and I can't wait to see how much I loss by then.

Well, Sept 13th came and went and I got weight taken and on that date I weighed in at 217. Now I'm at 211. So I'm pleased with everything. Just having a problem with the flabby skin. I'm trying to find a program that is targeted for people who have had the surgery.  I did find one but not too sure of it.  So I will keep looking .  Well, I go back to boston  in Dec. So I will update

I went to see the Dr on Dec 6.  All is going well. I've lost 18 more lbs.  So it's starting to slow down. I was concern about that but they told me that excersing builds muscles so  he is pleased with me.   That's about it. Just have to keep moving forward, which I plan to. I feel great and  don't look too bad. With clothes on that is. lol.  I will update again in another 3 months.  Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
