I had the RNY surgey in March of 2004. My starting weight was 320 lbs. I did very well, went to all of my support group meetings, had a husband and best friend who had the surgery after I did and things were going great. I was down to 160lbs and wearing a size 4 or 6 depending on the clothes. I felt great had lots of energy and my life was going well. I thought I would keep the weight off forever and I would have if I would have followed the principles of weight loss surgery. But I didn't.
I found out that my best friend and my husband (ex-husband now) were becoming more than friends and they loved each other. I was out and she was in. I was heartbroken. I stopped eating and got very sick. I actually passed out while drive because my Feratin level got down to a 14 and my iron was like a 7. So I had to go get blood transfusions and I had to start eating again. So I did. But I slipped back into bad routines of using food for comfort. I quit taking my vitamins and ate junk food. I still could only eat small amounts, but I was putting fat, sugar and other useless calories in my body.
I have since remarried to a wonderful man, but still have been using food to cope with lifes problems. I now weigh 235. I am not telling you my story to discourage you, I am sharing my story so that you can learn from my mistakes. I am happy to say that as of today I am on the right track. I have commited to holding myself accountable and eating only good things for me. I am also taking my vitamins again. My new husband and I are eating healthy together and I have every confidence that I will reach my goal of 170 and will do it safely. I am also exercising again. I like pilates and yoga. They are easy on my joints.
I can't do this without your help. OH is what kept me going before and I know you all will help me again. I would love to hear from all of you so please feel free to contact me. I will reach my goal and you will too!
