Well I haven't posted in a while.  Surgery went well they found a hiatal hernia during surgery which she repaired.  I think I actually had more pain from the hernia than the actual lapband.  Everything has gone well I have had not side effects or complications. 

Yesterday I went in for my 1 month checkup and first fill.  I'm down 11 lbs since surgery and 21 lbs since my first appoint with Dr Nelson.  I feel good and encourage about my decision.  Dr Nelson put 2cc in my 10cc band during surgery and yesterday she put an additional 2cc in.  I'm on liquids for 24 hours, mushes for 24 hours and then progress to normal foods again.  I'm hoping to get a little more restriction, the last couple of days before my appointment have been hard.  No sure if it's head hunger or just ready for fill, but I've wanted to eat so much more than before.

My weight loss is a little slower than some but that's fine with me as long as I can average 1-2 lbs a week.  I didn't put this weight on over night and maybe if it comes off slow I will keep it off and get use to my new way of eating.

Yesterday (4/2/2009) was my last appt with the doc before my surgery.  Everything went well signed all the paperwork and had lost 7 lbs since my first visit on 3/10/2009.  I've been on my 10 day diet since last Saturday and this Saturday I start liquids until surgery on Tuesday.

We've had alot of stress on my husband side of the family moving his mother from Texas to Oklahoma and having to put her in a nursing home.  Course everyone had their different options and things get a little stressful.  But I've managed to keep my head up and only cheat once on my diet (biscuit from Red Lobster).  Sometimes I have to pinch myself and wonder if this is really all happening, and then I get worried that could I fail at this just like any other diet or program I've been on.  I'm determined to listen to the doctors and make this work.  OH and my friends on OH have been the best to keep me encouraged and upbeat :)

March 9, 2009, finally had my consultation visit with the Dr.  Everything went well, and I passed all the test flying colors.  Now that I look back its only taken 2 months since the seminar.  It seems like forever getting here.  I know the next few weeks will go fast with all the appointments and starting a walking program.

I was very pleased with my surgeon and staff and am looking forward to my journey.

My name is Debbie and I have been overweight most of my life.  In early 2007 I attended a seminar for lap band surgery.  I really didn't have alot of health issues, just sleep apnea, and FAT.  Last year my niece had lap band surgery and has been encouraging me to check into my insurance again.  I'm pretty stubborn and insisted I did not qualify.  To shut her up, I decided to call my insurance company and low and behold, they had changed they qualifications.  I attended another seminar on Jan 7, 2008 and waited for approval.  Feb 24th the Doctors office finally called and said they had everything approved by the insurance company and scheduled my first initial visit with the doctor for March 9th.  I'm so looking forward to this surgery and enjoying life again.
