1Year out

Dec 29, 2010

As of yesterday I am one year post op.  I have done a lot of learning and I am still learning.  Right now I am frustrated because I have been up and down the same few pounds for the last 2 and a half months but I hear that is normal.   I still have lots of weight to lose but I have lost 120 lbs in total.  I have days that I do not think that is a lot but I have to think if I did not have surgery I might be a lot heavier.

Thank you for all the support on the boards.

6 months out today

Jun 28, 2010

I am celebrating my 6 month anniversary of my surgery today.  I has been and interesting ride.  I am learning new things everyday and imbracing my loose skin.

Since my surgery I have lost 84 pounds which does not include optifast.  I have had bumps in the road and stalls but I love my rny.  I am looking forward to fitting into clothing that I have never thought I would fit into, being able to cross my legs and being able to go horseback riding among other things.

3 Month update

Mar 28, 2010

Well today is my 3 month anniversary and since surgery I have lost 60 pounds and if you include the two weeks of optifast it is 78 pounds.  I am already feeling better.  My family doctor took my of my metformin so I am also excited about that..  I have had a few challenges and I am still struggling with getting enough liquids in but taking it day by day.

6 weeks out

Feb 22, 2010

I had my follow up appointment in Guelph today and everything is looking good.  The nurse and dietition are pleased with the progress I have made.  I can start taking my vitamins.  I still can not believe the weight I have lost so far.  I still have a lot to learn but I am working my way to my goal.  I wish my head hunger would go away.  lol

First Trip after surgery

Jan 18, 2010

It was not far but my husband and I went to St. Catharines this past weekend to visit friends.  I am on full fluids and all the meals were at restaurants.  I had waitresses giving me funny looks when i ordered soup strained and when there was nothing on the menu just ordering a V8,

It was really hard to watch everyone around me eating normal food while I am sipping on some plain soup or juice.  I had to keep telling myself that I am getting healthy and food is only for fuel.  Hopefully it gets better from here.

Home from Surgery

Jan 01, 2010

I had my RNY in Guelph by Dr Reed on Dec 28 2009 and I am home today.  I was going stir crazy in the hospital.  Everything seems to be going fine.  A new year brings a new start for me as well.  God has blessed me with peace during the whole process.  The date of surgery I was 401.4 lbs.  It can only get better from here on in
