Well here is my story. I was originally scheduled for gastric bypass surgery in June 1999. In celebration of my surgery date I went on vacation with my boyfriend to Alaska in May. During my vacation, I began to have serioius reservations about the surgeon, because every time we had our group meetings, the doctor would smell like alcohol. By the end of vacation, I decided not to have the surgery and cancelled. I still had my mobility and I could still fit in a single seat on the airline comfortably.
In 2004, I started buying two seats on the airlines for comfort and I said enough is enough. Last year I relocated to another state and saw a couple of friends who had the surgery and they looked fantastic and I started doing my research again.
I went to a weight loss meeting at a major hospital and fell in love with everyone from the clerks to the doctors. After signing up, every time I would have a question, I would call them (almost daily) and my questions would be answered. Who could ask for anything more?
It has taken me three months to complete all the preparations necessary to have the surgery and I am now (not very patiently) waiting for my surgery date.
This time, I have no reserversations because I know once its all over I will be the old me and I will have a better life.
