11-14-02 OK I know it's been awhile since i've updated here,things have changed since I was here last.I still don't have a Dr. I was going with Dr. Randall Cook I filled out all my info and sent it back and they called and told me to go to my pcp and get my records and a referral from him,So I went to see him today but things didn't go like I wanted it to he says my insurance won't pay for me to go to him so now I have to start all over and find another Dr. to use. He told me about a couple of Drs. that he feels like they would approve so I have to decide on one of them, They R Dr. Mora or Dr. Stahl. I have done some research on both and from all I can gather they R both very good Drs. so I think i'll check with Dr. Mora tomorrow and see if I can get in 2 see him fairly soon and if not i'll go with Dr. Stahl.So please if any one knows anything about either of these Drs. please contact me,I really want to have this surgery and i'm getting a lil discouraged, just seems like I take 1 step forward and 2 steps back.Well i'll go for now but please keep me in ur prayers and fingers and toes crossed and maybe i'll get a date soon. 12-5-02 Hello everyone, I have a consult WOOHOOOOOOOOO and it is with Dr. Cook after all. I talked with the insurance clerk with his office and she said they r with BC/BS and there shouldn't be a problem with getting it approved,Can u tell how happy I am? I'm doing the happy dance ~*~*~*~*~*~*~ lol,I got this prayer in my e-mail from someone in one of my support groups, thought u might enjoy it.My Drs. visit is 12/11/02 at 3:00pm.Only 7 more days to go and i'm excited and a lil nervous at the same time lol, Does that make any sense to u? I am going to try to get a pic on here if I can figure out how to do it, If anyone can tell me in dummy terms how to add a pic. please let me know. 12-20-02 WoooooooHoooooooooooo I have a date !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2-12-03 only 56 more days.I've done all my testing except for my pre-op stuff, Dr Cook says I am a very good candidate for the surgery and B/C should approve pretty quik.I just can't wait i'm excited and scared all rolled into one lol,Now u tell me does that make any sense?????????? I really like Dr Cook he made me feel so comfortable and at ease with him, and he really impressed me with his knowledge of this procedure. I am having the RNY and he only does it open,He is going to start doing it lap to after the first of the yr.He told me I wouldn't be a candidate for lap anywayz, and that is due to prior abdominal surgeries. He took plenty of time to explain this procedure to me and then he let me ask all the questions I wanted to ask, Which I did not have alot of them because he was so through. B/C requires a psyche evaluation and so I used the one he reccomended and she was also fantastic, So if u r hunting a Dr in the Montgomery Al. area I highly reccomend him and Faye Barfield for the psyche. 12-26-02 Well Christmas is over with and i'm kind of glad it is, Holidays r kind of hard for me now since my mom passed away on Christmas day.Hope everyone is having a fantastic holiday,And the new yr. coming up will be the greatest one yet. Well not much to report on surgery i'm still waiting on B/C&B/S to approve so I just have to sit here and hurry up and wait some more,I will be so glad when I get the official ur APPROVED and then maybe time will move a lil faster.Well I guess that's about it for now just wanted to update my ststus and wish everyone a HAPPY HOLIDAYS. 1-10-03 WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOO I'M APPROVED FOR MY SURGERY!!!!!!!!!! I POSTED THIS YESTERDAY BUT FOR SOME REASON IT NEVER GOT ADDED.I GOT AN EMAIL FROM BLUE CROSS TELLING ME I AM APPROVED AND I WILL BE GETTING A LETTER IN THE MAIL IN A COUPLE OF DAYS.I AM SO EXCITED I CAN'T HARDLY STAND IT LOL,I AM HAPPY,EXCITED AND A LIL NERVOUS ALL ROLLED INTO ONE,NOW U TELL ME DOES THAT MAKE ANY SENSE AT ALL TO U?SEEMS LIKE FEB.12 IS TAKING FOREVER AND A DAY LOL.LISA CALLED ME FROM DR. COOK'S OFFICE TO TELL ME I WAS APPROVED BUT I KNEW BEFORE SHE DID,I AM GOING TOMORROW TO BUY THE STUFF I'LL NEED TO TAKE TO THE HOSPITAL WITH ME AND TO GET MY STUFF FOR HOME.WOULD EVERYONE PLEASE KEEP ME IN UR PRAYERS AS I GO THROUGH THIS JOURNEY.I'LL WRITE MORE LATER AFTER I KNOW MORE DETAILS FOR SURGERY.UNTIL NEXT TIME TOODLES AND GBU ALL.~*~*~*~^j^Sue^j^~*~*~*~

1-28-03 WOW I can't believe it's almost here only 14 more days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I am so ready to have it done and be on the other side of all this and get on with my new life.I have been buying things I'll need to take to the hospital with me and to have for when I come home,I met a new friend through all this and she has surgery the same day as me and we also have the same Dr.Her name is Lea Ward and she has been such an inspiration to me during all this stuff,We started a support group together and it is doing really well.We had our first meeting this past Saturday 1/25/03 at Piccadilly's and everything went great,Thanx Lea for ur support and true friendship over these last few weeks and remember i'm always here for you G/F.We will soon be on the other side and losing weight together and the Y will never be the same again when we go exercise together LOL LUV YA girl.Well guess that's all for now i'll update again soon,,,,,,,,,,Oh go for pre-op tests on Monday Feb.10th at 10:00am and then surgery on the 12th.Until next time Toodles and GBU all,~*~*~*~^j^Sue^j^~*~*~*~

Sorry it's been awhile since I posted, I was busy right before my surgery and now it's hard for me to sit at the computer for very long at all. But I did want to at least give a short update,,,So here goes"I did have my surgery and everything went great"I was up walking 4 hrs. after surgery mind u it was very slow but in any case it was still walking,The pain was not what I expected though.I actually thought it would be a lot worse and I grant u it was bad enough but was by no means unbearable,All the nurses on the floor was amazed with me so I had my own personal cheerleaders lol.Be going down the hall making my laps and i'd hear a nurse behind me u go girl or something like wow ur burning up the carpet today lol,I know they were just trying to encourage me to keep walking but it also made u feel better to know they were noticing u really trying.But anywayz if ur pre op when u do get there walk walk walk cause it does make the pain alot better,Now for the good news as of today i've already lost 22 lbs now is that fantastic or what.I have not had any fluid, my suger is fine and my breathing is so much better,I really do believe this is going to be the best thing i've ever done for me!!!!!!!!The hardest part so far is trying to get all the water in but I am really trying.Well hope everyone has a great nite but I gotta go lay down am really getting tired,Will post again soon and let u know how it is as I travel this journey.Until next time toodles and GBU all,~*~*~*~^j^Sue^j^~*~*~*~

5-3-03 Hello everyone,Wow it's been a while since I updated so I figured i'd let u know how things r going.In 2 weeks i'll be out 3 months and things r going pretty good,I have lost 61 lbs so far and feel like a different person.This has been one of the best things i've ever done for myself,I go back to see Dr Cook in 2 weeks to have a blood workup to check all my levels and get my B-12 shot wooohoooooo lol,I can do more than i've been able to do in yrs. now and that is a great feeling,I can actually walk and breath at the same time now.Still having no problems with my fluid or sugar,The arthritis is alot better especially in my back,I was a lil disappointed when I went to the Dr the last time because i'd only lost 12 lbs. in 3 weeks but Dr Cook said I was doing great,He said I have to learn to quit beating up on myself and be happy with ME.I know he's right especially when I really think about it,After all how many of us has actually lost 61 lbs. in 2 and 1/2 months? 6-17-03 Hello everyone,I know it's been awhile since I updated so let me catch you up to date. Everything is going great since my surgery and I feel like a different person, I am 4 months out and the weight loss has really slowed in the last few weeks. I have lost 86 lbs so far and even though I would have liked to be down more by now I am really happy with where i'm at, I can't tell you how much better I feel and all my clothes are falling off of me. I was in a tight 26/28 the day of surgery and today i'm in mostly 18's and some 16's WoooHooooo, Can you tell i'm doing the happy dance ~*LOL*~.I know with a lil patience and time I will get down to where I want to be, I really have to work hard to get in my protein due to the fact that meat tastes like cardboard to me now yuk.I get in all my water most of the time and it gets easier with time,This journey has definitely been a learning experience but I would do it again tomorrow!!!!!!!It's definitely the best thing i've ever done just for me 8-).To all you pre ops just hang in there and ur time will be here before you know it, And then you'll be a bonefied (((((LOSER)))))).And to all you posties good luck as you continue ur journey towards ur goal!!!!!!I know for me this has been an amazing journey up to this point and I look forward to getting to my personal goal of 130/135.Good luck to everyone on this journey and,Until next time Toodles and GBU all.~*~*~*~^j^Sue^j^~*~*~*~

8-23-04 Wow it's been so long since i've been here to update my profile,First of all let me say I am a new person today because of wls and so thankful for being given the chance to travel this journey. I had my surgery back in Feb. of 03 and almost at goal, -164lbs and wearing a size 8 jeans and mostly med. tops. I feel better than I have in 25 yrs. and still get amazed some times at the things I can do now that was not even remotely possible before the weight loss. I got a job in March of this yr working at Baptist Hospital in the pharmacy for the first time in over 20 yrs. I know I repeat myself on alot of things concerning this journey but it definately has been amazing and was THE BEST THING I'VE EVER DONE FOR ME!!!!! I can eat pretty much anything I want now and that scares me sometimes but I try to remind myself on a regular basis that this is a tool and it will work even yrs down the road if I use it right, I still do my protein and take my vitamins and keep a watch on my weight. I haven't gained any weight back at all in fact I still lose a lb here and there, I would like to lose about 20 more lbs but even if I never lose another lb I could be very happy where i'm at now especially if I could get rid of the skin. Now for all you pre ops hang in there your time will be here before you know it and definately GOOD LUCK on your new journey when it begins, And for all you posties continued success on your journey and GOOD LUCK as you continue to use your tool.
