"My open RNY was performed by Dr Willie Melvin on 12/18/2001 at Vanderbilt. He was extremely open and honest with me about the surgical risks as well as the hard work required of me postop to be successful. My insurance company placed time limits on my approval but Dr Melvin and Vanderbilt were very accomodating to work me into the schedule. He is a very kind and concerned physician with a wonderful, friendly smile. I never felt rushed during clinic visits and he always answered my many questions thoroughly. There were a few long waits at clinic appointments, but I knew that he was taking as much time with other patients that he would with me. The hospital care was wonderful and the Nutrition program at Vanderbilt provides excellent pre and postop support. I highly recommend Dr Melvin and Vanderbilt."
