I'm starting down the road!
Jan 29, 2011
Began the process! Saw the doctor for initial consult last week and when I got home, made all the required pre-op appts. the last one being 2/28. Am anxious, as one can imagine, for the surgery to be done. Realized I have a long road ahead of me so maybe I need to get my head around the wait time over the next 4-6 months. I had planned to hopefully have my surgery around the beginning to middle of April but I'm supposed to retire on 5/31 which would mean I'd have to use 4-6 weeks worth of sick and vacation time for surgery recuperation. I'd go back to work for a few weeks, then retire. If I waited until after my retirement, another 1-2 months, I'd get a nice extra check for that unused time at work. I've been struggling with that decision as I even am with going through with my 5/31 retirement date. I'm retiring early so have the option of postponing it if I want. The thought of putting off the surgery an extra month or two seems like a lifetime more, but I guess I should do the right thing and be patient. It really makes no sense to lose out on that check which will come in handy for buying new clothes!
