7-20-06 Had my initial visit today and learned that Dr. Byrne will be my surgeon. I was VERY impressed with MUSC staff, found all to be most helpful answering questions, etc. Dr. Byrne tells me that I will have the "long-limb gastric bypass" and that he thinks that he will be able to do Lapascopically (SP?). Looks like my surgery date will be early September
7-26-06 Got my surgery date this morning, sooner than I thought, August 23.
8-7-06 Just got a call from Amanda asking if I would like to have my surgery THIS Friday (8-11-2006). I had just gotten a date of the 23rd of this month last week but they had a cancellation, so Friday it is!
8-10-06 Went in for pre-surgical visit. Had blood drawn, an EKG, a chest X-Ray, a once-over by Doc Byrne, met with anesthesia folks, signed a ton of papers and paid by deposit. Everyone at MUSC has really been more than nice. Tomorrows the BIG day! Michael
8-15-06 Came home yesterday, no major problems. My hemoglobin (sp?) was a bit low or I could have come home a day earlier. All is well, very little pain. The staff at MUSC is the best! More later. Michael
8-17-06 Went in for first post-op visit and Dr. Byrne took out the drain and was most pleased that I have already lost 14 pounds! This is already fun....

9-21-06 Went in to see Dr. Byrne today for 1 month (actually 5 weeks) visit and have lost 39 lbs!
10-23-06 Weighed today at PCP...58 lbs! I am estatic.
11-15-06 Weighed today at PCP...Down 70 pounds.
12-11-2006 Had my 4 month check up today with Dr. Byrne...Down a total of 82 lbs and weigh less than 300! (299 to be exact).
6-6-2007 Wow it has really been a while since I updated this thing but here goes anyway...Had my "10 month" visit with the good doctor yessterday and came in at 259. Down 122 pounds!
