-80 feeling good

Jan 16, 2007

Hi, I'm -80 pounds now and feeling good.  I have resumed a dance class (belly dancing and tribal fusion dance).  I can buy clothes in regular stores now!  I can walk upstairs without having to stop and rest.  I can see my feet when I stand.  My husband is paying me more attention than he has in a long time.  I still need to work on getting in more protein.  Have lost some hair, but thankfully, I have a LOT so it doesn't show, but I notice it.  I have been using the Pure Protein shakes, they're expensive, but premade and easy.  I have been lacks about my liquid vitamins though.  Need to get back on this, although I don't feel tired or sick or anything.  I can eat & drink pretty much what I want, just smaller portions.  I can't tolerate greasy foods though like pork ribs w/sauce or fried chicken.  Pasta's OK, but kind of makes me sick, too.  I can eat chocolate !  Bread, no.  Toasted maybe.  So now it is time to focus on quality of life.  Taking time for me to exercise.  It has been so friggin' cold out here in Northern Cal, I don't want to go out in it.  So have been doing some exercising at home.  My boss gave me an iPod shuffle for Xmas and it is so handy for dancing and exercising.
Write me if you like.  I do not regret EVER or anything about having this surgery.  Catherine

No more Coumadin

Nov 22, 2006

Off the Warfarin/Coumadin - it's been 3 months since my surgery/blood clot.  Yea!

Am weighing in at 298. Have lost 59 pounds since 8/12.  I have to exercise more.  Did the stairs at work 4 times yesterday and was amazed at how much easier they are to go UP and DOWN.

My daughter's coming home tonight & we're cooking a few dishes for Thxgiving to take to my Dad's.  Can't wait for my sis to see me.  She hasn't seen me since summer (before surgery).

Looking forward to some downtime from work.

It feels so good to see the 2's instead of the 3's (hundreds).  Feeling good.  Got in a walk Monday.  New walking shoes helped!

Very busy at work. No time for breaks.  Terrible.

Getting there

Oct 28, 2006

Hey, I'm getting there!  -51 pounds and it was just 10 weeks ago I had surgery.

It seems like 113 more to go is insurmountable though, but I refuse to accept that.

My belly dancing class has ended.  It was much much harder than I thought it would be.  My poor ankles and knees were not up for it.  I'm taking a class (not exercise) at church on Thursday nights.  As soon as that is done, 11/2, I'm going to try an exercise-dance class on  Thursday nights.  And there's a Jazzercise one I think in Palo Alto on Mondays.

I bought 2 new pairs of walking/running shoes last weekend.  Have one pair at work and one at home.  What a huge difference it makes having decent (and cute) shoes.

I'm curious about my Blood Pressure and glucose rates.  I'm supposed to have another glucose/pre-diabetes test -- but I want to wait a little while longer to be sure I have really good results.  I have an at-home BP machine.  I'm going to start taking it every day and measuring it like I was.  The eye doc that caught the blood vessel hemorrage in my eyeball said it's nearly completely healed.

I am still on Coumadin.  I go in for another test/reading on my clotting levels on Monday.  The doctor there thinks I will be on the stuff through January.  It's not so bad.  I just am bad about remembering to take the pills every night!

My hair feels really thin, but nobody says it looks like I've lost a bunch of it.  I will see Rose, my wonderful hairdresser Weds. and I am curious what her reaction will be to my -51 and the fact that I do have less hair.  I can tell!  I am being much better about getting in all my protein and have added 1200 mg of Calcium and Magnesium.
