I have been overweight for the last 10 years, and prior that that I had gained and lost the extra weight twice.  Each time I would lose the weight, I would put it back on with an additional 10-20 lb each time.
During the last 10 years I have steadily gained, and tried every diet out there.  I would lose about 5-6 lb, then gain it back with a couple more to boot.  I felt worse each day, and had developed hypertention and obstructive sleep apnea.  My heaviest weight was 216 lb.  I was unable to use a cpap machine to help with the sleep apnea, so the hypertension also kept getting worse.
Trouble with my left hip and knee pain also were major reasons why I decided to change my life.
I wanted to eat less and lose weight, but it was not within my control to do so.  I decided that I would have to have help with the hunger aspect of the weight control.
That is why I was so interested in the VSG.   I sought out a surgeon within the eastern part of the US that had done a large number of VSGs and that I could afford to pay for.  I found Dr. Pleatman on the OH website, and began communication with him and his office staff.  From the time of first contact with the office to my surgery date was approximately a month.  They made it very easy and sent lots and lots of information.  He was terrific, and a very gifted surgeon.  The hospital was nice, and so were staff.
My family and friends have been nothing but supportive, and I am very well blessed to have a job where I have extended illness bank hours to use during long illness or surgical recovery.
I took 8 weeks off work to have the surgery and recover from it and learn how to eat again.
My children are grown, but have 4 grandchildren and one on the way.
I am so glad to be getting my life back, as I felt like I was fading fast prior to my weight loss.  I already feel much better at 5 months out from VSG, and hope to feel even better when I get down to goal wt.   I have so much more energy and enthusiasm for life.
I do love my sleeve
