Still doing great!

Dec 30, 2008

I feel so blessed that I haven't regained any weight.
I feel great!
I guess I look good, been called HOT, by several folks (no small task for a 50 year old)
I haven't had complications.
I still don't dump. But sometimes I suddenly get very sleepy after I've had certain carbs (not sure which ones yet).
Overall, this has been a successful surgery.
I hope this lasts a very long time.
I know several people that have regained MOST of their lost weight.
I pray that that doesn't happen to me.

Still maintaining after accident

Oct 02, 2008

Hi, been a really long time.
I was in an accident in May and was laid up for a few months.
My back broke (crushed vertebrea) and caused lots of swelling and discomfort.  I was so afraid that being immobile for so long would put on so much weight.  I have been afraid to get on the scale for months, I can feel the extra weight but I can still wear my clothes.
I finally needed to visit the DR. I'm having pain on my right side.  He weighed me.  good news, I gained only 5 or 6 pounds.  I hope I can lose it.  I may have a hernia from the accident.  :(  Does that mean that I can get a hernis repair (tummy tuck)???
Has that happened to anyone else?
Still staying away from simple carbs and pasta!!

Still losing at 2o months post-op

Feb 18, 2008

Yep, I was at a stall for several months.
Then, for no reason, I started to lose again.
I've been eating the same way for this entire year.
No change, except I've started to add a few carbs into my diet.
Yes, the dreaded carb!  I am careful still to avoid empty carbs.
But the occasional carb seems to be just fine.
I have more energy now and I'm very happy about that.
I still need to be careful about snacking during certain times of the month.
Other than that, keeping the weight in check has been rather easy.
Thank God for this tool.

Is it 18 months already!

Dec 16, 2007

My, Has it been 18 months already?
It is amazing how I have lost and maintained.
MY simple RULES:
No Carbs!
No white stuff: no bread (which means no sandwiches), no rice, tiny bits of potatos (if any), no cookies, cakes (except a nibble at parties).
this is hard at times but it is helping me to keep the weight off.
TINY portions.
I try not to eat more than a tiny custard cup (4 - 6 oz.) of food at any meal.  This way I don't stretch out my tummy or overeat.
No drinking with meals... really hard!

I'm a size 8 (should be a 6) and I don't want to re-gain anything.  I'd like to lose another 7 -10 pounds.
If I had surgery and removed my excess skin, that would take care of that weight plus extra, but it seems a little dangerous.

B complex supplements are fabulous!

The Vitamins Helped!!

Jan 23, 2007

It's been a full week of adding more vitamins.  I definitely have more energy.  I have gone on the elyptical machine 3 times this week and walked all day at Disneyland (that is FUN exercise).  The great part is I had enough energy to do these things.  A couple of weeks ago; all I wanted to do was take a nap.
I am becoming a believer in the vitamins.
Have you taken your's today??

How can I speed thing up? Jan 14, 2007

Jan 14, 2007

Boy oh boy! Things seem to be going so slowly. I hit 70 pounds lost, then it was back to 69 pounds lost.  Then 68, 69, 68, 69 ,70, up down, up down.  Oh gees!!  I hate the holidays because we get so back into old ways!!  I definitely need to get back to basics.
First off, I'm changing my vitamins to the bariatric advantage ones
Next, I'm cutting a meal and making it just liquid protein drink.
I've got to cut out the morning coffee, I'll try to make that my protein drink instead.  I just need to figure out how to make it a warm drink, because it's so cold in the AM when I drive my kid's to school... bbrrrr.
I also bought a B complex liquid.  I need to add that into my regime every day.

A Happy New Year To All, Jan 4, 2007

Jan 04, 2007

 Cheers
I hope everyone had a fabulous New Year celebration.
Well, I survived the trip without gaining any weight... but didn't lose any either.
However, I did drop 2 pounds after just a couple of days home and back to a better diet.
So, my total loss to date is just 2 pounds short of my goal for new year's (not bad).

Spaz  Bravo
OK, For my New Year's resolution, I will exercise more, which will be easy since
I haven't been exercising AT ALL!!

Mouse On Wheel
It's time to work out on that nice elyptical machine EVERY Morning, at least for 10 or 15 minutes.  I can't believe that I haven't had the energy to do this.  I used to LOVE exercise and NOW (although thinner) I seem to have less energy.
Question Mark What's up with that??

My HAIR IS GROWING BACK!!!

Woohoo  Hula Dancer  Tribal Dance  Belly Dancer
YIIPPPEEE!!
I have about 1 1/2 inches of regrowth, and it's all grey!  I have an appointment for a good foil treatment next week.  I'm excited to have hair again, but I have to repeat what I posted before, Less hair is much easier to maintain.  Blow drying and straightening took just a few minutes.  My hair is going to look so weird for the next several months as this new hair grows in, It's like I have 2 layers.  Maybe I'll need a new hair style in a couple of months.  Let me know what you did to your hair style to make it look nice during this transition.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Happy Holidays?

Dec 18, 2006

Wow, this is a constant struggle.
The holidays are upon us and the single thread that ties all holidays together is FOOD!!
I find myself wanting so many Holiday favorites.  I'm constatly reminding myself, "too many carbs" or "it's not worth the calories".  But despite my depriving myself of all those foods, my loss is still terribly slow and I'm not in a better mood because I've avoided the sugar.
I'm Moody and a little depressed, and even though I did lose 2 pounds this last week, My waist seems bloated and my pants are tight today. I am struggling!!
I'm keeping my attitude UP!
I am enjoying the holiday decorating and shopping (afraid of the bills in January). And my house is the brightest in the neighborhood. I've kept my mood up with cheerful music and decorating, tons of Xmas cards and several holiday parties.  We are even taking a vacation next week.  I know it's common for people to be depressed after the holidays.  I'm, so, praying that I don't actually gain any weight.  If I set the bar low, I won't get depressed.  Next month I'll focus on LOSING BIG!
Are you struggling with the same issues?
I go for my 6 month check up on Wednesday!!
WOW, already 6 months. I'm not as thrilled with my weightloss as others are with theirs.  I've been a slow loser and seem to be slowing down even more.  I guess it's time to "pick-up" on my exercise... hey, that might help my mood too?? Well, "hair growth" might help too!!

M.V. posted this on her profile and I love it!!

Are we grateful... Really Grateful.

Nov 27, 2006

This is a beautiful Thought and one we should all embrace.
Thank you Cajun Girl  Life is so precious

 Be grateful:
Today, when I awoke, I suddenly realized that this is the best day of my life, ever
There were times when I wondered if I would make it to today; but I did!
And because I did I'm going to celebrate!
Today, I'm going to celebrate what an unbelievable life I have had so far: the accomplishments, the many blessings, and, yes, even the hardships because they have served to make me stronger.
I will go through this day with my head held high and a happy heart.
I will marvel at God's seemingly simple gifts:
the morning dew,
the sun,
the clouds,
the trees,
the flowers,
the birds.
Today, none of these miraculous creations will escape my notice
Today, I will share my excitement for life with other people.
I'll make someone smile.
I'll go out of my way to perform an unexpected act of kindness for someone I don't even know.
Today, I'll give a sincere compliment to someone who seems down. I'll tell a child how special he is, and I'll tell someone I love just how deeply I care for them and how much they mean to me.

Today is the day I quit worrying about what I don't have and start being grateful for all the wonderful things God has already given me. I'll remember that to worry is just a waste of time because my faith in God and his Divine Plan ensures everything will be just fine.

And tonight, before I go to bed, I'll go outside and raise my eyes to the heavens. I will stand in awe at the beauty of the stars and the moon, and I will praise God for these magnificent treasures.

As the day ends and I lay my head down on my pillow,
I will thank the Almighty for the best day of my life.
And I will sleep the sleep of a contented child,
excited with expectation because
I know tomorrow is going to be the best day of my life, ever!
