1 MONTH POST OP!

Sep 18, 2008

23LBS GONE!!!! it's not a whole lot but it's a start!
i didn't update on my 3rd and 4th week post op because i was a little disappointed in myself. i felt i should have lost more weight than the 23lbs. but then i sat and thought about it and i realized 23lbs is a lot for someone who used to weigh 300lbs.
i do have be honest with myself and say i know the reason why i haven't lost the weight i should have is because i didn't stay on my diet the way i should have. (shame on me). im going to start watching what i eat. i know that even though i don't eat very much, i can still slow down the weight loss process from the things i do eat. so i will do a whole lot better from this day forward!
well.... until my next update, i want to thank everyone for their kind words and encouragement!!!!

2 WEEKS POST OP!!

Sep 01, 2008

Well, this is my 2nd week after surgery. So far things have been good! I'm down to 240lbs which is an 18lb loss since the day of surgery. And 30lbs lost since I decided to have surgery.
I still have some bruising around a couple of my incisions and I hope they go away soon. I'm still a little sore but that's getting better. The faster the better!!
One thing I will say is that I AM SOOOO SICK OF EATING LIQUIDS!!!!  I understand that the diet is important and it helps with the recovery. But man!! Can a sista get some real food??? LOL!!!!
But all in all, I'm doing well. I'm happy with the weight loss and hanging in there with the diet!!!!

ONE WEEK POST OP!

Aug 25, 2008

Well....
I am now one week post op!! So where should I begin???
We went to Puerto Vallarta a couple days early so me and my honey could vacation before I went under the knife. The hotel they put us in is on a beach resort and was BEAUTIFUL!!!! We had so much fun!! The pool and the beach were great!! WE even found a mall and a walmart! (Walmart sucked) It was so hectic. I couldn't function! But the pool was the BEST!!
Monday morning I met with Natalie. She was so friendly and informative. I was scared to death!! But she put me at ease almost immediately. We went throught all the paperwork and she told me what the next steps would be. Then she took us to my room and she stayed while they took my blood and got me ready for the doc.
After a few hours I finally met Dr Joya and the other doctors who would be assisting him. Then off i went!!
The surgery went well and the first day I felt ok. I knew I would have a quick recovery. But it didn't happen that way. The next day when I drank the 'nasty' blue stuff to check for leaks I started to feel real sick. I had the worst chest and stomach pains. Dr Joya decided to keep me in an extra and he did another endoscopy to make sure there wasn't anything serious going on. The endoscopy showed I had a small ulcer and that's what was causing all the pain. He put me on more antacids and pain meds to help with the feeling I was having. This was on Wednesday. On Thursday I felt soooo much better. They released me and let me go back to the hotel.
We left the next day headed back to the good old US of A. We had a really good time, and Puerto Vallarta was GORGEOUS. But by Friday we were both ready to get back home!!!!
I'm recuperating well at home. I have some soreness at one of the incision sites and I'm bruising around a couple of the incision sites. It still hurts a little when I take my meds. Water, juice, soup and the other liquids go down ok though. I have a couple more days on the clear liquid diet and I CAN'T WAIT to be able to eat some yogurt!!
The best part of the first week of post op is as of this morning i have lost 11lbs since the day of surgery!!!! I know that I still have a long way to go but its a start. And I'm glad I got it done and I'm glad to be home!!!!

ALMOST READY TO HAVE THE SURGERY!!!!

Aug 04, 2008

It's almost that time!!!! I'm getting ready to schedule my appointment to have the surgery. I've decided to go to Puerto Vallarta Mexico to have it done. I am going to have the Gastric Sleeve procedure and the doctor that will be performing the surgery is Dr. Joya.
It's so scary thinking about going to Mexico to do the surgery. (it still is) But I spoke with a friend of my chiropractor who had the surgery done by Dr. Joya and she eased a lot of my worries.
I am so excited about having the surgery done. I know this will change my life. This is something I wish I would have done years ago before my health got as bad as it is, but it will be done soon. I can't wait to start feeling better about myself and my health!!
So.. I've started the preop diet that Dr. Joya requires. Basically it's a liquid diet you have to be on for 2 weeks before the surgery. I know it'll be hard to be on only liquids BUT I AM GOING TO DO IT!!!! I weighed myself this morning and I don't know how it happened but I lost 8lbs. YAY!!!! It may be from the heat. Because when it's hot I don't eat as much! But whatever the reason, I'm glad I lost the 8lbs!!!!!!
I will keep everyone posted on my progress and I want to thank everyone who has sent me their support! I really appreciate it!!!!
