Negative People

Jun 23, 2010

 Hi Everyone,

As most of you already know, I am writing a cookbook.  Not just any cookbook, but one that uses only recipes contributed from the people on this website who have been there and done that!   I am getting a great and positive response so far.  Now, that's exciting!  Unfortunately, I have received  an unsolicited opinion from someone that is not supportive at all.  You know what, if you don't like what I am doing, please keep your opinions to yourself!  I believe we are all on this website to help and support one another.  So, from this point forward, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all!  For all the rest of you that are being so positive and supportive, keep the energy flowing!

 Hi Friends!

This fantastic journey I have started has lead me to an epiphany!  I am going to write a cookbook for all our brothers and sisters that have gone through weight loss surgery.  I need your recipes!  As I go through and read the daily posts, I am constantly amazed at all the great recipe ideas that are out there.  I just want to put them together in one place so everyone can enjoy them.  What do you get out of this, recognition!  Yes, your name will be right there under your wonderful recipe!  Don't you love it!  I am very excited and can't wait to see all your great ideas!  Please let all your friends know and send me those recipes!

Please categorize your recipe under one of the following headings:

It's Almost Here!

Jun 10, 2010

So, it is June 10th.  I know to most of you that doesn't have a lot of meaning, to me that means 4 days until surgery!  Yikes.  You know, we think the day will never arrive and then all of a sudden it is here.  I am still very nervous.  I am finding hard to concentrate  on anything else.  This 30 carbs a day diet is just wearing me out.  I am sooo tired!  I think I will just be glad when this is all over. Over!  Holy cow!  I am just getting started!  My big adventure is about to begin!  I am ready for where the journey takes me....I think......

Yes-I am still here!

Jun 03, 2010

So, I am already done with week one of the lo-carb diet and I feel like I am not eating the right things.  I have been eating carrots, celery, radishes, cucumbers, jicama, mushrooms etc and now I find out that things like carrots are loaded with carbs!  I am so upset right now I am crying!  Why is this so hard.  I am very frustrated...  Oh, the good new is, that my surgery date is June 14th.  I hope when I get there they don't  say my liver is as big as a cow and cancel the surgery.

Just the porch this time

May 04, 2010

 May 4

So, I had to take a couple days off after my "I'm going to conquer the world" exercise excursion th other day!  Holy cow!  I was
sooooo sore!  I couldn't sleep and I could barely even walk the next day!  Today, I got back on the horse.  I did decided this time, rather than jumping off the roof, I would only jump off the porch!  The walk was a little shorter and I have backed off on the weights.  I am still determined to get my exercise in, but have decided I need to just take smaller bites!

I have not heard a peep from the surgeons.  I really do not know what the normal time fame is on getting my stuff together and submitting it to insurance.  I have never been a very patient person!

Day 2 Blog-May 1 2010

May 01, 2010

Well,I got up this morning and quite honestly, I was not really inspired to do much of anything.  I got onto facebook, threw in some laundry and and made my morning Spark(my energy drink).  By the time I got through with my Spark, I was feeling much more alert and decided there is no time  like the present to start my exercise routine.  I grabbed my barbells and got started.  I did two separate  sets of  two different excises for my arms.  Then I strapped on my leg weights and did two separate exercises.  Yep, I am already sore.  I guess that's what happens when you are a dedicated couch potato!   This afternoon I will out for my 30 minute walk.  I will post again after my walk.  Today, a new beginning....

We went for our walk.  30 minutes and it was great!  I was getting a little tired toward the end, but all in all the walk was a big success.  I think the dog shed quite a few calories herself!  I do have to say that I am feeling the burn of the weights this morning!  That too will get easier every day.

I continue to read many, many posts on here every day.  There is so much information here.  I am doing my best to keep a positive outlook and know that the surgery is going to be a new and wonderful adventure.     Here's so a shinny new future!

Online Diary

Apr 30, 2010

Welcome to my newly created blog.  I have decided that from this point forward, I am writing my thoughts down daily, or whenever I get to it!  Maybe this will help me, or maybe at some point, help someone else.  I don't know.  These are just my thoughts.  The things going through my head right now.  This is not a novel, nor am I putting this up for others to ridicule or dissect.  By me, for me.  I will welcome all comments and thoughts as long as they are not condescending or rude. Thanks!

-I had my meeting with my nutritionist today.  A very nice, no nonsense kind of guy.  All the information he gave my was very useful and I really feel that the things they are asking me to do are very much within reason. Of course, I am not there yet so only time will tell. The only thing at this point that bothers me, is the hair loss thing.  What good is losing a bunch of weight if I am bald(sorry, my question mark got launched into space one day, and to this day is wandering around aimlessly looking for its keyboard!)  Anyway, back to the subject at hand.  I don't have much hair anyway, so I am currently researching how I might be able to minimize this.  Someone on the WWW was talking about silica(sp).  Not sure what that is, but I am going to look in to it.  I am also going to research keratin.  I know that helps your nails grow, so why not hair too.

-So.after my meeting with the nutritionist, I ran(well, not ran exactly, I can't do that yet, but it is on my to do list) a few blocks over and got my bi-weekly allergy shot and wasted some time at Central Market and then back to the surgeons office to meet with the exercise guru.  While waiting for the instructor to arrive, a girl that I had chatted with early, re appeared and said she wasn't feeling well and they rushed her back into the office.  I have to say that scared me.  She was all bubbly and chatty earlier and now she looked horrible and scared.  Not what I needed to see at that point.  I hope she is okay.  I don't want that to be me.  Anyway, all the exercise stuff to me was common sense.  This evening my hubby and I went to the sporting goods store and I gathered dumb bells, resistant bands and those cute little weights you can strap onto your wrists or your ankles.  Tomorrow I start walking.  Yeah!  My hubby and the dog are going to tag along.  My vet recently told us our miniature dachshund  could stand to lose a few pounds as well.  We are going to make this a family affair!

So, this day is done.  Now all the papers are going to be submitted to insurance.  I will now wait and see what happens.  In the mean time,  I'm going to see if I can make a gigantic beehive with my hair.  I never have tried that, but I suddenly, for the first time in my life, feel like I need to experience big Texas hair!

Peace~Out
