most simple shake
Jul 11, 2008
I found an easy way to make a halfway decent shake. 1 container of light and fit yogart 60 cal 5 gr protien and four scoops of beneprotien = 160 cal, 29gr protien total. bigger bang for the buck. For best results let it sit in the fridge for an hour or more before you drink it. I was finding it hard to drink so much of the canned drinks. yuck. not the best. found out I was taking my vitamins wrong. was taking them all in the morning instead of splitting them up through out the day for better absorpstion. Well now I know. It is now three and a half weeks since my surgery and I am down 23 lbs. I don't feel all bloated and puffed out. I have had a couple of days here and there where the cravings were bad. Found myself putting food in my mouth chewing then spitting it out for fear of puking or too many calories or filling my stomache too full. Not the best control but it kills the cravings and I can concentrate on putting healthy and more meaningful food in my stomache. I start back to work in one week and I am so ready. I don't know if my body is but I am bored. I don't have a release yet from my doctor to start excercising but I am trying to keep as busy as possible. There are times when I feel totally weak and tired and get nothing done. So I must make the best of it and this too will pass. I am feeling a whole lot better though.
Hit the road running
Jun 29, 2008
I am currently 11 days post op and have lost 14 pounds. This has been a long road to get to where I am now and I'm not done yet. In the beggining around March of 2007 I went to the St Mary's Bariatric centers conference for hopeful preops. I have spent years of my adult life being overwieght and it had eventually caught with my health. My first doctors apt. was the following april. I had to wait a little over a year to get the surgery due to changes in insurances. I knew I was going to have this surgery and I knew that I was ready. I had read up on the procedure and knew that it would be a trial, it was not going to be easy. I did know that I would be taking chewable and liquid medicines, but because I tend to be a little slow I didn't realize that the meds I was currently on would have to be crushed or chewed. UHH!
But like everything else we get accustomed to changes. My first thoughts after surgery was "What have I done?" I am in pain. And a lot of pain. Thank the lord for morphine! I had my surgery laproscopic and left the hospital two and a half days later and still in pain. My husband was away in Iraq and could not be there with me. It may sound silly to have surgery when your spouse is out of the country. But I am a selfish and inpatient person and was determined to get the initial part of the recovery over with. Because I am pretty much a single mom right now I decided that I would go right back to daily activities and taking care of the kids and house. This was my justification for not waiting until my husband got back. The day after surgery my lawn needed mowing so I took my liquid lortab and got on the rider. I could only mow in 10-15 min increments going about 2 miles an hour. but I was able to do at least 3/4 of the 1.3 acres that we have. I finally broke down and asked my brother in-law to help me finish the rest. I am doing better now but not fully recovered yet. This was deffinately not like when I had my gallbladder out.
