Is it wrong to ask for money from family & friends?

Oct 27, 2009

I found out today that even with my Insurance deducible and out-of-pocket completely paid, I will have to pay 1200 dollars UPFRONT (before surgery), and I can not afford to not have this surgery but I can't afford to haveit.

So is it wrong to ask for help? To ask those who love me and want me thin and healthy to help pay?

Maybe pitch in extra for my birthday (Nov. 19th,) and Christmas (surgery date of Dec 27th). or is it my responsibility to realize I can't afford it and move on and give up on trying?

Need advice,and hope!!

For my non-existing readers....

Oct 17, 2009

I'm FINALLY on my final step of my figurative staircase, Ready to reach the landing (surgery) to begin my new climb.  I had my psych eval. with Dr. Goff, and she said I was as prepared as I can be and she thinks it is a wonderful idea!!!
So, then I went and seen my insurance 'agent' at the Bariatric center, and turned in my letter of medical necessity, then she told me if I can get my payment shcedule set up before Nov. (we have to pay all of our part BEFORE surgery) I can have a late December surgery!!!

Please cross your fingers, toes, arms, legs, and any other available parts that it all comes together for me!  (Not to rush the surgery for surgerys sake, but because I have my full $2000 deductible and out of pocket limit already paid for the year, and I don't want to have to pay it next year)

Thanks everybody, and I will keep updating, for those of you non-exsisting readers. :)

Getting started & Icky Isopure!!!

Sep 30, 2009

Finally got my psych evaluation schedueled (thought I had it already but NO that was a pre-consult)

I just signed up for a gym, American Health Fitness, and it was mainly for the excersie after the surgery, to get ready now, (and they have a pool I LOVE to swim, and they have a pool.....did I mention ....POOL!!!!)

I bought some protein powder from GNC, I was there pricing for the post-op dieting, but GNC had a sale going it was a 22 serving container of Isopure (usually $70) on sale for $35.  Of course the only flavor was Banana and thats not yummy at all when you are working out. The texture is great its not chalky but...banana....really, now I know why it was so cheap.  Now I'm trying to find things to mix in it to make it taste better, like gasoline or lighterfluid.  Any one have any better ideas, I thought of Crystal Light packets or some SF kool-aid.

Oh, and I would love friends on here, so if you stop by 'friend' me, and send over your friends. :)  I made the decision to get the surgery, but now I ned a support group of friends, and I fel awkward just friending random people without notice, you know?

TTYS, Heather.

Yipee!!

Sep 21, 2009

I  just found out from BCBS customer service that beyond the BMI criteria and the Psych eval, I do not have to be approved, and a of January 2009, they have dropped the 6 (or 12) month supervised diet.  So I'm almost there, just schedueled my Psych eval. so anytime now I should have good news!!

On the Road!!!

Sep 18, 2009

I had my first seminar last night, with Dr. Dale Sloan and the wonderful staff at Lutheran Health Network Bariatric Center.

I called my insurance today, and found out I don't have to get approval I just have tomet requirements (one of which is a 12 month minimum supervised diet) but that can be waived because my BMI is 52.

I'm excited anbd extremelly nervous but I am ready to begin the rest of my life.

The Beginning, and an END!!!

Sep 16, 2009

Howdy, my names Heather, I am 22 (23 in Nov)  I currently weigh 355, I have PCOS, Metabloic Syndrom (sorry, I have had it for 16 months and stilll have no clue what it ACTUALLY means) severe Kidney stone production (3-4 in each kidney every 5-7 months) and because of my BC pill, I had to have my gallbladder removed  Feb '09.

I have been overwieght for as long as I could remember, but about 4 years ago I gained 75 poundsin about 3 months for no reason, just Wham!

My doctor sent me to a neurologist for Insomnia and some sleep problems, and that is when I was intoduced to the idea of WLS.

I have been comtemplating either RNY or MGB, I don't know the better of the two, but I have discarded LapBand from the possibles.

Before I go I would love to thank EVERYONE, you are the best people in the world.

YOu answer questions, you share your experiences, and most of all you make this (wonderfully) fat irl feel welcomed and supported, and all I had to do was make the decision to change and here you all were, like you were waiting for me!!
